Castillo has been such a nice surprise so far this year.

Insanely lucky. He's a decent player but not anywhere near this good.

You're trying to say he isn't nearly Ted Williams level good?

Ted Williams never hit .425. Don't sell Castillo short.

You're trying to say he isn't Ross Barnes good?

The point being that he hasn't even been Ted Williams good for a 2 week sample. The numbers aren't indicative of how well he has played.

We really just need him to be better than average.

I know. I said he is a decent player.

Other than the first two pitches to the last hitter in the 9th, Marmol looked MUCH better. Velocity was in the lower 90's with the FB. His slider had the sharp downward break again.

Yeah, the strikeout pitch to Andrus got that classic "Oh crap!" reaction it used to when the batter thinks it's going to hit them and it drops right over the plate for a strike.

Marmol trade value: Rising!

DeJesus trade value is what we should be exploring. And here's to hoping that Schierholtz can have a DeRosa-esque breakout and we cash him in July or the Winter.

I don't know much about trade value math, but I'm thinking DeJesus is probably more valuable to the Cubs than he would be to other teams. Schierholtz might be a solid sell candidate.

With many contenders struggling with pitching already, how soon until there are calls for Villanueva and Wood?

Wood is under club control through 2016, and Villanueva has another cheap year on his contract.

Good for us, but it also adds value in a trade as the "new" club would have to give more value than a "rental" player. As much as it would hurt to deal any and everyone again, we could be in a prime situation as one of the few teams who are sellers that actually have pieces people need. I gotta believe that if Garza shows health, he's gone long before the deadline, probably before July.

Yea its really disheartening to hear fans get excited about trades when a player does well rather than just, you know, being excited we have a player playimg well.

Sure come July it may be in our best interest to sell high on some Journeyman veteran, but I'd like to just hope it correlates into more winning for the time being.
