Next year is the transition year, in bringing all the kids up. With some of Theo's quotes on pitching, I doubt we add long term guys until we're confident in contending immediately. Mid season next year or 2016. But there's obviously a ton of question marks heading into next year and I can see them holding off until they're sure they're not wasting innings on a non contender.(so many bullet theory)

But Masterson, Liriano, guys like that-I expect. An upgrade from our previous forays, but not "all-in" quite yet.

I'd be happy if they went out and brought in both Masterson and Liriano. It'd be a very "if things go right" kind of situation, but if they were in the fold with the youth movement, that could be a very awesome team next year.

I feel like he's permanently broken. Between the beaning and how bad he's been this year, I just don't think there's much left other than a good Twitter follow.

3.69 FIP, 2.87 xFIP this season.

His peripherals have been pretty damn good this year. 3.69 FIP 2.87 xFIP and a 1.5 fWAR despite having that ugly 4.63 ERA. That .347 BABIP isn't helping

He hasn't been bad this year.

Definitely better than liriano and masterson.

I'm going to claim battered fan syndrome because of Jaxon.

Actually, I can see Ervin Santana as a legit option next year. I keep forgetting about him.

Give me him, Maeda, and Rusney Castillo. No trades. Let the kids filter in and buy at the deadline.

There's too much Cubs positivity going around

Starlin Castro is hitting .230/.316/.280/.596 with 0 HRs in his last 27 games (since June 21)

McCarthy's my guy. I think he's the perfect guy for what the Cubs have been signing. Shouldn't require a long term deal or a lot of money because he doesn't have the strong surface numbers. But he has good peripherals (Wood). Should be over his injury problems (Arrieta) and is a big strong armed guy that with a couple tweaks could turn the corner as a starter (Hammel).

I'd be willing to bet those responses are more a result of just being uncomfortable on camera and people trying to look like they know what they're talking about, regardless of fanbase.

rather than be defensive of a dumb ass fan base (most/all of which are dumb, yes), why not just lol at idiots?

Because it kinda irks me when media purposefully screen out normal people and only show dumb sh.its. Bernstein does this too (at least I accuse him of it). I'm not saying there's a 10-1 smart-stupid ratio for Cubs fans. But I can guarantee if they filmed a handful of people in a row, one of them would have said "UUUuuhh, they got a guy named Russell".

It would have been funnier if they made up a stupid sounding name and they still bought it. Like Troy McFart.

It's a pretty dumb bit. Maybe if it were at a place where the expectation would be that people were pretty knowledgeable about Cubs prospects, but people on the street outside Wrigley doesn't qualify.
