I love how the Cubs even have no idea how to handle this:

"The Chicago Cubs are disappointed in how our Wrigley Field display cake was disposed by the Field Museum following our successful charity event. The team made a decision not to serve the edible portion after the cake was on display outside Wrigley Field for most of the day. Though the cake was mostly made up of non-edible material, it certainly does not excuse how a celebratory cake artfully created by Buddy Valastro and Carlo's Bakery was handled."

WHAT THE [expletive] WERE THEY SUPPOSED TO DO WITH IT, YOU IDIOTS?!? This is basically just code for "[expletive], we're pissed that some guy at the Field Museum took pictures of what we knew was going to happen and everyone realize that it's hilarious because we're a joke of baseball organization." They're talking like the thing was supposed to be given a [expletive] viking funeral or folded up like the flag and buried or some [expletive].

God how stupid are the Cubs. Same thing happened with Santo memorabilia didn't it? Jesus, pay someone for like 30 minutes to tear the damn thing apart before you dispose of it. Their ineptitude is on full display with stupid [expletive] like this and being childish about Sosa.

What a [expletive] joke of an organization right now, [expletive].

To clarify, the Cubs did toss out the Santo junk. The cake was tossed at the Field Museum by the Field Museum.

I thought you loved everything they do?

So basically you just hate the memorabilia disposal stuff and like everything else?

Sorry, my reflux is acting up real bad today. They draft and trade real well. Just the length of the rebuild, money situation, and stupid oversights like this ignited with my reflux like a flint.

Wasn't sure if this should be a random cub or random baseball musing but How about the Padres sending their oft injured potential Number 1 starter out to play left field in extra innings last night.

Just see the guy having to make a throw and hurting his arm, or tearing something trying to catch a ball. I know we have done things with Wood and Shark, but this would be more like the cubs putting Garza out there with his history.

The cutter was supposed to be more safe than the slider, less torque. However, I think that the number of times they are throwing the cutter per game changes that idea. They may have thrown 12-15 hard sliders a game, and now some guys are throwing as many cutters as fastballs.

Mariano was an anomaly, using him as an example is like using Nolan Ryan and his 300 innings a year to show that huge inning totals don't hurt anyone.

Shouldnt matter how many times someone throws a cutter in a game. The pitch is a fastball with the exact same arm and wrist motion, just with a different grip on the laces.

It's April 26 and we are ten games out of first. I hope that this is the last year that this is acceptable.

This is never acceptable.

http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/10847460/matt-garza-says-jeff-samardzija-needs-pitch-way-chicago-cubs

Matt Garza had some friendly advice for Jeff Samardzija, saying his former teammate needs to "pitch your way out of there" if he doesn't want to stay with the Chicago Cubs.
"All I can tell him is keep pitching -- pitch your way out of it," Garza, who signed with the Milwaukee Brewers this offseason, told reporters. "Keep your eyes focused, your eyes straight ahead and just pitch. There's nothing else you can do."
"I told [samardzija], 'It doesn't matter, dude. You play in Chicago,'" Garza told reporters. "'I was there, and I lost 30 wins in three seasons. It's not your fault. You pitch your way out of there.'"

Ramirez chimed in, too

"We've all been around for a while, and the next thing for us is winning," the 35-year-old third baseman said, according to the newspaper. "We don't want to be in a development situation and a rebuilding process.

"I don't have 10 years left. I have to try to win now, and same thing for Garza and [soriano]."

Soriano, who was traded to the Yankees last season, said he wouldn't mind being reunited with Samardzija in New York.

"I love Samardzija. I hope he comes here," Soriano told the Sun-Times. "If not here, somewhere he feels comfortable and gets a chance to win, because that's what it's all about.

"At the end of the day, we play to win. We don't play to have fun and just lose. We play to be a champion."

It should be interesting what Shark says when he's inevitably dealt, because I'm guessing he'll have some words on this too.

THE CUBS WAY: play well and maybe you'll get traded to someplace that won't make your life a miserable hell

too bad there is no such recourse for the fans
