When every jumbotron ever has been used for garbage, the burden of proof is not on me to explain why the Cubs' wouldn't be any different.

It kinda is when they've gone on record to say that it would be.

I guess that would be the first time a sports team's owner hasn't been completely up-front about something, so you're right.

Yea, Ricketts is a regular Loria.

Also, what are you so mad about?

Pinestripes, mother [expletive]. Those white uniforms look weird and fake, like from a movie.

Just needs some piping is all.

I'm not sure why you think a jumbotron wouldn't be used for gimmicks. Those gimmicks are sponsored. It's not just a kiss-cam, it's the bud light kiss-cam.

Because I don't believe they are going out of their way to blatantly lie about their intentions.

They could've said nothing about a kiss cam. Much like the other changes they've made, I fully believe they can add what they want to add tastefully. I'm not worried that things will get horribly tacky anytime soon. I mean, maybe it'll ultimately progress to that, and if it does, "Oh, well," I guess.

I'm not mad. I just think those who want a jumbotron should be prepared for it not to be a straightforward replay-and-ads screen, because they never are.

I think they are going out of their way to get everything they possible can to start maximizing revenue streams out of Wrigley. That includes gaining public support for their plans, which entails reassuring people they will be subtle, classy and respectable. But there's no reason to assume they won't use a jumbotron for gimmicky nonsense, because that is the only reason to have a jumbotron.

Ugh. No navy. It feels like half the teams in pro sports now wear some combination of red and navy. I count 7 MLB teams that wear red/navy combos right now.

My vote would be to keep the regular home uni as is, but introduce a pinstripe free alt for Sunday games. I also wholly support getting rid of the walking bear logo.

I love the home Cubs uniforms. I like the logo but I'm not in love with it. I don't hate the road uniforms but I wouldn't be mad with a change.

I kind of liked the red brimmed road hat. I kind of miss it.

Also if they do go to Navy,I'd like to see them consider dropping the red.

Yep. Navy sounds fine with me. Navy + red is very overdone. Maybe just Navy and white, like the 1913 throwbacks:

I like the dark jersey/dark pants and simple, uncluttered design (I would lose the bear), although without a few contrasting lines they look like pajamas (same goes for the 1919 all-whites, in my opinion). Add some piping, à la the Padres most recent jersey, and I think it's a winner.

I believe they just mean navy letters and numbers on the road greys as opposed to the current blue and red numbers.

and dark jersey/dark pants is an abomination

Bah. Misread that. Thanks.

Who knows what it really is. Just my guess.

I hope they do away with the blue alternates, I've long felt they look like dressed up BP jerseys. I like TT's idea of the all whites with blue piping, but at the same time I do not want to see the pinstripes go. It's a good, classy uniform. But it sounds like that isn't even an option.

Not sure how they'd include a navy uni unless it was only an occasional (maybe the Sunday uni?) thing. Though a 1911-esque uniform with the 1914-esque cap would be a cool navy ensemble, imo. If they do navy, I'd leave out the red. I really like the old navy/white contrast, it's clean and cool.

And I don't want to see the return of the red billed caps. I never liked those at all. I don't feel like they should eliminate red from the color scheme, but it definitely should be minimized. The red borders on the lettering and in the "C" is plenty.

I'm indifferent on the jumbotron. I tend to believe the Cubs when they say they won't do gimmicky stuff, for whatever reason. I think a good amount of revenue could be derived from it with just plain ads. Part of me doesn't like the idea of a jumbotron, but part of me wouldn't care if they made Wrigley up to look like the mothership from Close Encounters if it really helped the club win.

Am I crazy or haven't they basically done away with them already?

I feel like I haven't seen them in a long time, or at the very least, the usage has been much reduced.

I doubt it happens, but I'm curious if Ricketts/Kenney have thought about completely changing the Cubs uniforms to help re-brand the team. I am not really much of a fan of the current uniforms. I don't really have any ideas on what I'd like to see, but I would even be open to changing the color scheme.

Anybody else have any ideas/thoughts on uniform changes? Major? Minor?

I have your same fears. I can practically see the Royals video board when I pull into my neighborhood. That board draws 50% of the fans' attention at all times, but there are some parks that do not do the garbage.

I would argue that San Francisco was not distracted by the board whatsoever. Also, Detroit was not distracting when I went there in 2011, but they got a much nicer one for 2012 so I don't know. Also, it's been a few years since I've been to Cincinnati, but I remember the video board not being a distraction but a huge enhancement for the park. The video board at Yankee Stadium was not distracting. Minnesota isn't too bad.

Piniella let his starting pitcher pick the uniform, so we saw the horrible blue jerseys a ton (Zambrano always chose it, as did someone else).

I'm fine with a jumbotron as long as they keep the organ. I think the non stop, blaring music at parks like The Cell is far more grating than any visuals.

Wrigley already blasts contemporary music throughout the game.

And I could not care less about what they put on a jumbotron; if it brings money to the team, they can put whatever they want up there.

I don't care what they do as long as they bring back the v-neck pullover style.

I have wished for years they would trade the current blue alternates for these:

I totally agree with Xzero77 who said the current ones look like batting practice jerseys. I also totally agree with hating the red-billed caps.

As far as the jumbotron, if it would replace the Toyota sign, I am all for it.
