http://www.bleachernation.com/2013/02/28/source-cubs-seriously-exploring-branding-changes-including-new-logo-new-uniforms-and-a-jumbotron/

Looks like they're talking about changing some of the secondary logos (or maybe the primary - which would be surprising but Brett doesn't seem to rule it out anywhere), the road uniforms (I had heard rumors of them changing the shade of blue and getting rid of the red numbers - which would be awesome). Also looks like there are plans to put a screen where the Toyota sign currently resides.

I do wish they'd get rid of the pinstripes and go with an all white look at home, but if the throwbacks are like that, I guess I'd be good with that.

Although the familiar home pinstripe unis aren’t under consideration for revamping, the focus group was shown a variety of potential road uniform changes, including a navy blue look (as opposed to the “Cubbie blue”), which was apparently designed to have a “vintage” feel. The Cubs are also considering regular throwback jerseys that they would wear on Sundays, or at least some kind of alternate jersey which would commemorate the 100 year anniversary of Wrigley Field in 2014. Similarly, the revamped road jerseys are under consideration for 2014.

The group was also shown a variety of different Cubs logos, according to the source, though the classic “C” cap logo is not currently being reconsidered (whew). The reconsidered logos ranged from subtle changes to the “C,” to the old school bear look, to completely new logos.

The group also discussed the ballpark experience, which is, itself, an additional layer of Chicago Cubs branding. Of particular note was a discussion of a large video board – yes, that would be a “JumboTron.” Nothing is finalized, but it appears that installing a JumboTron for the 2014 season is very much under consideration. It would be placed in left field, essentially where the “Toyota” sign currently resides. That placement would reduce rooftop blocking, would be viewable by most of the folks in the stands, and would not interfere with the aesthetic view from inside the ballpark, out into the neighborhood. According to the source, the group reaction to the proposal was actually almost universally positive.

The JumboTron, while not quite in the same branding vein as logos and uniforms, is a part of the changing fan experience at Wrigley Field. Obviously a large video board has long been considered for Wrigley, and was necessarily going to be discussed as a part of the planned renovations. Not only would it change the fan experience – more stats, replays, between-innings entertainment (I know, some of you just gagged, but I’m told the Cubs continue to promise that there won’t be anything cheesy) – but it would also provide the Cubs with strong additional revenue opportunities through advertising on the board.

Good.

If they make any drastic changes to the logo/uniforms (although it seems like the main logo and home unis wont change), do it in a year that we expect to compete so we can all associate those uniforms with winning.

Worst part about that is that no changes are being considered for the home uniform. Get rid of the pinstripes, add blue piping, maybe make it off-white if you're worried about similarities to the Dodgers, please please please.

NO.

I don't really care either way on road uniform changes

I knew there was someone on here who agreed with me on this.

I'm fine with no pinstripes. I hate the "pointed" C on the caps though. Too much like the Reds.

I'd actually really like navy instead of "Cubbie blue" though.

I'm in the pinstripe camp as well.

I liked the all-whites, but they're a little on the bland side for me. I'd be open to variations on Sundays like other teams have done, especially if it means a new alternative logo (or a return to an older one). The walking bear kinda sucks.

Those look like knock off Cubs jersey's you can buy from those Chinese sites and/or Wal-Mart for $3. I really like the pinstripe look, but if they want to get rid of them and go all white they better do better than those.

I don't want a jumbotron, but it's probably inevitable at this point.

Any changes to the road uniform I'm in favor of, but I'd prefer to keep the home unis the way they are.

SMH

Somebody who is better than me at such things should shop the regular Cubs logo onto those all whites for even more awesomeness, though.

Can I ask why, assuming they stick to their word and aren't doing any terrible annoying kiss-cam type stuff and are just using it for stats, replays, and ads?

I like the pinstripes, but that all-white is pretty nice. I'm not sure what the anti-pinstripe thought process is though. It's a good look.

I just prefer a cleaner look. I'm not anti-pinstripe, really. I don't dislike them. I just would like an all-white much more.

Because they won't stick to their word. No jumbotron in the history of stadiums ever has been bereft of stupid crap.

The Cubs have been the only stadium without a jumbotron for a really long time, so why wouldn't they be able to have the only jumbotron without stupid crap?

Yes, please, in regards to the jumbotron. It's about time they get one.

As far as the uniforms, I realize I'm probably in the minority, but a modified, updated version of these...

would work for me.

But, I'd also be good with the all whites posted above, even with the big C, though I'd like the bear in the C rather than ubs. I'd also like to see them darken the blue, I like the navy look of olden days better than the current color.

When every jumbotron ever has been used for garbage, the burden of proof is not on me to explain why the Cubs' wouldn't be any different.

It kinda is when they've gone on record to say that it would be.
