It would have been cool to see the Bears drive 30 yards on the first drive, call a timeout, have a false start and then punt from the opponents 42.

Plus, Hester was bound to get tackled for a safety on a kickoff return eventually.

If Winfield is out the Packers may score 50. If he can go and Smith is healthy I think it will be competitive. Ponder won't play that well again but our pass defense won't be that bad again if they don't have to play CB roulette on the fly.

This is the total "just happy to be here" though, at least for the fans. From 3-13 and with like the 3rd youngest roster in the league plus Adrian's uncertainty, this was unexpected fun. Especially when Percy went down and they were sitting at 6-6 with the toughest remaining schedule in the league.

I still have no idea how this Colts team won eleven games (they're somehow 3-2 against playoff teams, at that). I'm thrilled to be wrong about how many games they'd win; great season no matter what happens in the playoffs.

By playing an easy schedule.

Well, yeah. And yet, even against that easy schedule, I have no idea how they managed to win those eleven games.

I know you're being facetious; but, considering his performance late in close games there may be something to that. This isn't baseball, despite your implicit insistences otherwise.

I don't think so. I think its just a mediocre team that has won an inordinate amount of close games.

Because, in large part, of excellent quarterback play in those close games. The close games (many against bad teams) mean that this Colts team is not very good. Without doing any research, I suspect this is by far the worst 11-5 team ever (look at the overall point differential). However, the Colts achieved the 11-5 record based on Luck's arm (and, quite often, his arm late in games). It sure wasn't the crappy defense, crappy running game, or crappy offensive line.

Yeah, it's just that there's a lot of factors that go in besides just assuming that Luck was transcendent in the fourth quarter. My own guy Sam Bradford had quite a few excellent fourth quarters but he played uneven in the other three periods. I don't think this means he has a knack for clutch play at all.

Packers in the Super Bowl? I'm not so certain they'll beat the Vikings, couldn't stop Peterson last night, don't see them stopping him next weekend.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing there weren't other factors. Nor am I even certain it's sustainable in future years. But, this year, it was a factor.

I'm a playoff racist. I'm only rooting for teams with a black QB or black coach.

Not that I intended it that way, BUT:

- Don't want Brady or Manning

- Obviously Green Bay will not be rooted for by me.

- The Colts would be the worst superbowl team ever

- Houston doesn't deserve to go, because they couldn't keep HFA with 3 chances.

- I kinda enjoy the Matt Ryan playoff failures after a great regular season

That leaves Washington (RG3), Seattle (Wilson), Cincy (Marvin Lewis), Minnesota (Frazier), SF (Kaepernick- sort of), and Baltimore, who doesn't fit either criteria, but I picked them to win in the beginning of the year so I kinda would like to be right.

Luck is much better than Bradford.
