It feels like when a report comes out that a player signs with the Cubs or is traded to the Cubs it's always contradicted, but if it's any other team it's almost always confirmed.

How do these reports keep happening to the Cubs? I haven't seen any other free agent news where it was a done deal to another team and then we find out that it wasn't a done deal. This would be the third time in half a year.

I really like this move if it is true. Sanchez has been an extremely consistent pitcher over the last several years, and would suddenly make the rotation very solid. Also, I like to see the Cubs making a big signing, perhaps proving that they are being very disciplined regarding signings and not just cheap.

Are all of these almost trades just a function of the twitter world and people trying to break things before they are really finalized, or has Theo been particularly bad at closing deals?
