Again, I posted this in the other thread but the Bears still have a terrific chance of making the playoffs, even if their slide continues.

If the Bears go 2-2, I'm pretty sure they are in. Ignoring Seattle, there are 4 teams that can tie us at 10-6, Washington, Dallas, Tampa Bay and Minnesota. Throw Dallas out because we win the tiebreaker. Washington and Minnesota would have to win out just to tie the Bears at 10-6. Lets look at all 3 individually.

Bears (8-4):

They would finish 10-6, 7-5 in the conference and either 3-3 or 4-2 in the division

Minnesota (6-6):

They would finish 10-6, 7-5 in conference, 4-2 in the division. Bears can clinch the tiebreaker and render this scenario moot by winning next week. If they don't, the 2 Bears wins would have to be over GB and Detroit or else Minnesota wins the tiebreaker and goes to the playoffs over the Bears. But again they have to win out if the Bears go 2-2

Washington (5-6):

They'd have to win out against vs. NYG, vs. BAL, @ CLE, @ PHI, vs. DAL. If that happened, they'd finish 10-6, 8-4 in the conference and would win the tiebreaker over the Bears by conference record

Tampa Bay (6-5):

They are winning 10-7 over the Broncos as we speak. They would need to go 4-1 overall to tie the Bears at 10-6. If they went 4-1, with one of the victories over Denver, their conference record would only be 6-6 and the Bears would win the tiebreaker over them with a 7-5 conference record

So in summary, the Bears need to wait for Minnesota and Washington to lose again. If that happens, they need to go 2-2 and hope TB loses once to make the playoffs. If they go 1-3, that's a completely different story.

we arent making the playoffs boys

Hope you're joking, they're clearly making the playoffs barring a Marshall or Cutler injury. The problem is, there's absolutely no way the Bears win a playoff game on the road considering they still have yet to beat a good team this season.

Ask yourself, why do I want this team as currently constructed and hurt to make the playoffs?

Because the difference in draft picks between losing out and winning the division is insignificant?

Because when you have two playmakers on offense, and a defense that, today's aberration aside, can shut down teams, if you win the division you like your chances winning 2 straight?

Because only weirdos that like seeing teams tank get any enjoyment out of losing?

Because the GM we have now isn't the one we had blowing draft picks in the past?

cubbyvirus is the Bears fan equivalent of Aramis Fan. If he isn't miserable with his fandom then something is amiss.

What are you talking about? Arizona is an auto-win. They can't win 1 out of 3 games, two of which are against teams they have already beaten?

At the very least, you need to not conceed that until it actually happens.

I don't enjoy losing but this clearly is not a Super Bowl team. Emery drafted Shea which is still a bad pick. We shall see how he does going forward. You really think we can win two straight against GB/NY/SF potentially?

Shea might not have been the right pick given people like Chandler Jones were still on the board, but the more I see of him, the more I think he has a chance to be pretty good if we can find a way to use him correctly.

This is how unfortunate a day it was for the Bears:

Their loss loses them the division lead, and if they had won they would have not only stayed in first but also got themselves in a spot for a bye week because the Niners also fortunately dropped a game.

Now they're looking at a road playoff game at best. Amazing.

On the bright side, the other wild card contenders made it that much harder for the Bears to completely blow a playoff spot with the Buccaneers, Saints and Vikings all losing. Bears are still 2 games up on a playoff spot with 4 to go.

On a further bright side, the SB champion the last 2 years has come from a wild card team having to play 3 games on the road. Of course those teams had more complete teams than the bears but whatever you never know.

Chandler Jones was the right fit cause he was the obvious 4-3 end. Emery tried to play chess in the first round when you need to play checkers. Mercilius was another name at that slot. Emery then decides to [expletive] on the rest of the draft after using the mantra of 'needing impact players that can contribute immediately.'

I'm just worried at the prospect of having to retool our O-line, defense, and pass catching positions with inept coaching while pissing away the primes of Cutler and Marshall.

Really? He looks less and less impressive the more I see him. Did you see that pathetic attempted tackle on Golden Tate when he had him in his arms? That was a disgrace.

Hahahahaha cubbyvirus has gone full derp.

lol@ you thinking all is well and fine.

Yes because the only 2 ways you can feel about the team is 'ahhh everything sucks, we will never win again, we need 22 new starters on this team' or 'everything is fine, we're going to win the super bowl'

I don't know how anybody can pretend that is true.

Yeah, this is just patently untrue. All you have to do is look at the 6 spots the final win last year cost them and the difference in the type of player that could have been picked at 13 vs. 19.

He clearly thinks Cutler and Marshall are ok. So 20.

No UMF, he's totally got me there, what with all my long rants about how the OL is perfectly fine and none of the injuries so far have mattered. Totally no cause for concern, you guys.
