what i meant was she flew to hawaii to meet me online

Te'o's dad said that. If you buy his story, Manti probably made that up too for the same reason.

you honestly have to think teo is psychologically an eight year old to believe him.

I don't know what I believe. I'm just trying to make sure quotes aren't misattributed.

The only person I know I believe is Swarbrick. To back Manti so publicly makes him an absolute train wreck if it turned out ND was in on it. If this was indeed a prank pulled by Manti, it was limited to the Te'os.

I guess I'm confused by the number of people that get doped by these things all the time. Why is it so unbelievable when it happens every day?

Also, there's no benefit and a ton of risk to Te'o. On the flip side, huge benefit to the guys behind this who just got espn to cover a presser on their hoax.

Just so we can see these words in order.

Te'o claimed he had a girlfriend.

He never met her, but he had a somewhat elaborate story to claim he did.

He never spoke to her, but had a somewhat elaborate story to claim he had on many occasions.

He was under the impression she got into a serious car crash, got cancer, and then died, but never physically went to assist her, be with her, or grieve her.

The twitter account he interacted with "her" is tied to a man people call a friend of Te'o's family, who interacts with Te'o on Twitter and apparently had USC/ND tickets because of that relationship.

Te'o has spoken very publicly about his girlfriend, her problems, and her death, but claims his embarrassment that his relationship with her was online is the reason he didn't divulge the extent of their relationship.

In spite of all these things, Te'o wants us to believe that he is 0% complicit with what happened and that he's been victimized by someone/someones who were not once quoted in an article blowing the lid on the whole ordeal.

I don't know what ND did to you, but your irrationality on this one subject will forever baffle me.

this is all a big gag, right? i mean this has to be a bit from an otherwise rational person.

How do you never talk to the girl? I get meeting somehow online and talking that way, but does the topic of talking on the phone never come up? And if it does and "she" repeatedly says no, shouldn't that a be a major red flag?

Swarbrick said there was a stand-in girl that Manti talked to on the phone. Did anyone watch the presser?

No kidding; MR keeps bring up how this happens "all the time," but those situations seem to typically end when the person being strung along realizes something is up, which can happen seemingly a ton of different ways. This guy somehow managed to skillfully avoid all of the potential ways he could have realized something was up? How the [expletive] does he do that? Answer: he doesn't.

also this doesnt typically happen to stud football players about to get drafted in the first round of the nfl draft

He talked to a girl dozens of times. So did his dad (eta talked to her, not dozens of times like Manti did). This wasn't one guy that did it all.

She called him at the ESPN awards banquet to say she wasn't dead. Jesus

So it was a gang of people duping him? What a load of [expletive] [expletive]. MAYBE if there was seemingly some kind of effort to blackmail him or something, but instead we're supposed to just believe it was an epic prank multiple people were in on...and it was a prank they only did for their own benefit and they didn't reveal it to anyone at all?

lmao

@chrissolari: Notre Dame hired PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS for Te'o but did minimal for Lizzy Seeberg and Declan Sullivan.
