Te'o starting to be mocked to the Bears.

Te'o going to the bears, coming out as gay, and then becoming an all-pro linebacker is now my dream upon dream.

Regardless of all the other stuff, I don't want him. He screams "bust".

Walterfootball.com still has the Bears with Ogletree.

the other mock on the site has Te'o

Is there any question that Ogletree is better?

Ogletree vs Te'o is really interesting. Ogletree is a better athlete with potentially elite speed for the position while Te'o is, at best, only slightly above average athletically. On the other hand, Ogletree's instincts at the position aren't that great and Te'o's are off the charts.

Both have off the field problems (Ogletree was suspended 4 games for violating team rules - since it's the SEC, I assume the only way he could get such a lengthy suspension is if he murdered a guy).

I really don't like the thought of drafting a LB in the first round with so many other needs. Wouldn't be all that surprised to see the Bears trade out of the 1st round in order to get additional picks. Might be the best way to acquire depth without splurging in FA

I think I want to put my money on the trade down. However, Emery wants to take the BPA no matter position and I don't see him as the type to calculate how far down he can trade and still get his guy. I could envision a situation where he planned on trading down, but somebody dropped to him and he just couldn't resist the temptation to take that guy and figure out the other needs later.

Agreed on both counts.

Also, based on their Senior Bowl practices, it sounds like Lane Johnson is turning himself into a viable pick at 20 and Eric Fisher is starting to push his way towards the top 10.

Seconded, just curious about Teo v Ogletree.

I really don't see Emery trading down unless the draft unfolds in a weird manner. Unless the BPA available is a QB or DB, I think you can argue us taking them round one. And if we do trade, it may not be out of the first round, but just down a few spots. I don't think we'll get any additional pick if significance unless a team overpays, which could happen. Really I wouldn't count on anything after about pick 75-85 as being a positive as far as depth for next year goes. Are we gonna trade down and gain a top 85 pick thats worth the difference in however far we have to drop to get a pick of that impact?

Mid to late third round the talent differences usually start to level off and its mostly developmental guys. Getting a potential contributor at 90 and 130 isn't all too different.

Love Ogletree but agree I don't see LB as a first round worthy pick. Almost have to go offense...assuming Melton is back. TE, OL, or maybe even an outside shot at a WR.

Dee Milliner - Dallas Thomas - Tony Jefferson as the Titans' first 3 picks would be a fantastic draft. No chance that happens, though. And I'd much rather see a raw, high upside pass rusher in the 4th in that scenario rather than Montee Ball.

drafting jefferson in the top 3 rounds would be a mistake. i cant see a scenario where he's not there in the 5th round

Didn't realize that. I'm not real familiar with Jefferson, I was primarily happy about getting a safety relatively early.

he's basically an undersized LB, his coverage skills aren't great and there were rumors his whole career that he was a shitty practice player.

i had obsessed some a week or so ago, and came up with my semi-realistic dreamworld Lions draft:

1-9) DeMarcus Milliner, CB, Alabama (trade #5 to NYJ for #9, 2013 4th and 2014 4th)

2-27) Bacarri Rambo, FS, Georgia (trade #36 to SF for #59 & 74)

3-3) Tank Carradine, DE, Florida St.

3-10) Kenjon Barner, RB/KR, Oregon (via SF)

-OR- Denard Robinson, RB/WR/KR, Michigan

4-2) traded to MIN last year

4-9) Shamarko Thomas, SS, Syracuse (via NYJ)

5-4) Omoregie Uzzi, OG, Georgia Tech

6-3) Tavarres King, WR, Georgia

6-11) Etienne Sabino, OLB, Ohio State (via Titus Young trade)

7-5) Quinn Sharp, P, Oklahoma State

unfortunately i think we're probably dead-set on taking a DE at 5, but Moore & Werner don't really excite me much
