UPDATE 14 (7:58pm CT): You knew this was coming. You knew it. Alden Gonzalez (Angels beat guy for MLB.com) says the reports of a deal are premature, and the Angels are still negotiating with at least one other team. I told you it wasn’t a done deal …

 

UPDATE 15 (8:03pm CT): The reasonable fear here is that the Cubs contacted Marmol to ask him *if* he would waive his NTC to go to the Angels, he said yes, the Cubs went back to the table, and in the meantime, Marmol told a local reporter. Enter Twitter, asplode head.

Another of the Angels beat guys thinks the hold up is confirmation from commishes office, due to money. At any rate, there were a ton of "confirmations" on this one that would look really bad if it didn't go down.

Sounds like the only thing being negotiated is how badly Theo is fleecing DiPoto on Haren's contract. Even Haren himself just said that he's assuming it's a done deal (according to exchanged emails from DiGiovanna). Marmol opened his mouth way too early, but this deal will get done.

Awesome move. Going from the AL to the NL should only help him bounce back even if he doesn't get his velocity back.

 

Great move in that you most likely deal him at the deadline for a nice pickup but maybe not if we catch a bunch of breaks and can compete. Doesn't sound like the Cardinals are doing too much. If that holds and Dusty, well, Dusty's his pitching next season you never know. Unlikely for sure but it's nice to dream.

I remember being upset that the Cubs didn't trade Marmol at the trade deadline....in 2010. So if this is a possibility, its like the coolest thing ever.

 

It may actually get me paying attention to the Cubs within the next 3 years rather than the opposite of that.
