I'm getting really excited about this Pacers team. They're title contenders with a healthy Granger.

They'd be the 6th seed in the West.

Part of that was the fact that Granger was shut down the day the season started, and the Pacers started off really badly because of it. Since Paul George made the leap in early December they've been really good. And then of course adding a close to All Star level player on top of that should help them quite a bit.

I do agree that I would give them very low odds for the title because they are both less talented and match up poorly with the Spurs/OKC. They have a solid shot of getting out of the East though. The only team that is more talented then them in the East is Miami. The Pacers probably have the best shot of anybody in the East of knocking off Miami because they match up so well with them. They dominate them on the boards, have three wing defenders to chase LeBron/Wade, and the Heat don't have anybody to match up with West.

Obviously still underdogs because of the LeBron factor, but that will be quite a series if it happens. There's a couple teams in the East that match up well with the Pacers that could knock them off before that series ever would take place though.

Pretty much. Paul George, Lance Stephenson, and David West are all much better players than they were last year. The Pacers just really need a shooter, and I'm hopeful Granger can fill that role.

Bucks reportedly had a trade with the Hawks worked out sending Monta Ellis and Epke Udoh for Josh Smith and Devin Harris but the Hawks pulled out last minute and demanded 1 or both of John Henson and Larry Sanders Bucks said no and Hawks pulled original trade.

Edit: Full trade before Hawks backed out

"Bucks had 3 way deal where they would acquire: J.Smith, Redick & D.Harris; ATL gets Udoh, Ellis & Udrih; ORL gets Lamb, Harris, Moute + pick"

Leandro Barbosa to the Wiz for Jordan Crawford.

Can't believe they got something of value for a guy with a torn ACL and a rather small expiring contract (I think only 1.2m)

Curry went off for an NBA season high 54 tonight including 11-13 from three (tied for the second most threes made in a game in NBA history).

Looks like Andrew Bynum is out the rest of the year. Has swelling in his kee(s). Will be interesting to see what happens to him as a FA this offseason.

Admittedly Howard is pretty injury-riddled these days, but the Lakers were always going to get the better of that trade even if Bynum was completely healthy.

The Lakers win every single trade they make. I cant remember the last time they didn't hose somebody.

The Gasols trade?

Given that it directly led them to 3 NBA Finals appearances, 2 championships and shut Kobe up from demanding trades, I think they did pretty well for themselves with that one.

Shaq trade? At the time didn't it look like they were getting pennies on the dollar? Odom wasn't considered that good nor as valuable as he would turn out to be for them and they did get Bynum with the #10 pick they acquired but a #10 pick isn't that valuable and they got lucky with the pick/turning Bynum into Dwight.

Odom, Brian Grant + a first rounder is a pretty good haul for an aging Shaq who had a rift with the teams best player.

You basically got two future All-Star 7 footers for Shaq.

They got the 26th pick in 2006 in that trade which ended up being Jordan Farmar. The Bynum pick they got for going 34-48 the year after trading Shaq.

They also got Caron Butler in the deal, though he only spent one year in LA before they traded him for Kwame Brown. Considering they didn't really have a ton of leverage, they did get a pretty good return for Shaq.

Yeah and that trade basically boiled down to Gasol for Gasol because everyone else in that trade, inlcuding the two future first rounders ended up being worthless. Marc Gasol being as good as he has been was a surprise as well. I don't think it is a surprise that first round picks from a very good lakers team would end up being worthless. I think they absolutely got a good deal in that one. I understand that it may be better to tear it completely down to get better rather than staying stuck being average, and not bad enough to end up with a top pick... but they didn't need the lakers to do that.

That is also why I was completely fine with Stern nixing the Chris Paul trade to them last year. It seemed to be getting ridiculous. When the bulls tried to trade for Pau, the Grizzlies wanted at least Ben Gordon and Deng (not that I blamed them--the bulls would still have been getting the better deal, but I could also see the bulls thinking that trading away their best players would leave them like the grizzlies in the east). But then the Lakers get him for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie and an unknown Marc Gasol?

Then, when everyone wanted chris paul, and probably could offer better trades for him (didn't the celtics even offer Rondo and Jeff Green?), the Hornets were going to accept a few average players that would guarantee them no better than possibly making the playoffs as an 8th seed (but probably not) while the lakers end up with Paul. And you knew they would follow that up with getting Dwight Howard to become a superteam again. I think a lot of fans were starting to think the NBA was rigged in favor of the lakers. To act like that was actually a good trade for the Hornets and that it was the best they could get was completely ridiculous. The hornets got a better deal for him from the clippers.

Kobe might not as be good as he used to be but he still has the refs in his back pocket.
