Luol Deng just sent out multiple Tweets saying that he didn't miss the game last night due to flu - these are in chronological order. Befuddling to me that anyone would be questioning Deng after last season (or really his entire Bulls' career).

ETA: He just added that if he's medically cleared he will get to Brooklyn and try to win Game 7.

I think it's been excessive in this thread, yes. There was probably more talk about Rose during the game last night then there was about the actual game going on.

Oh, the game where multiple players were playing at less than 100%, when the team was extremely shorthanded and without its star player? The star player who's been medically cleared and who said he'd only come back when he's at 110%?

 

Stop acting like the Rose discussion shouldn't be a major component of this series.

I just wish they had a component to "medically clearing" a player that required the player to say they were ready to play in a game. I agree rose deserves everything he is getting but I wish the Bulls had done a better job of protecting him from it. That’s part of the job in my opinion. Mitigate these things. Rose thinks he is in the right. I don’t want Rose sour on the Bulls, local media or fans.

Would the opinion of Rose be any different if his brother kept his mouth shut? I think that's a huge factor. His brother basically said he wasn't going to play and people assumed Derrick would have the competitive spirit to come back.

Probably a factor, but to me the biggest thing was when the Bulls let it be known that doctors cleared him. Then you see the footage of him practicing and all looks fine (admittedly to the untrained eye)......hard to understand.

Sure. I think the chairman did as well. Im saying the Bulls didnt do enough to mitigate the PR disaster Rose is in right now, and I think we all can agree its a disaster. Rose is the reason this is happening, however, they should have done a better job shielding him.

Hard to do that, when everyone can see him flying all over the court in practice. Are they supposed to try to make everyone believe he really can't dunk all that well, it's just an optical illusion?

I don't really care what Rose has said, I'm pissed he isn't playing. If he came out from the beginning and said he was likely out for the year, I'd feel the same as I do now.

 

The only thing that would make me feel better towards Rose was a doctor saying the surgery or recover hadn't gone as expected.
