Michigan's tied with Bama for #1 in the entire country for pass defense (yardage)

obviously our schedule's helped that some, but we lost our best cover corner in like the 3rd snap of the season, have a walk-on safety starting, only have one capable pass-rusher (a LB), and play this guy:

i'm going to start a campaign for Greg Mattison to be awarded god status or something

At least Tennessee should win a game this week.

I'm sick of this Jon Gruden to Tennessee talk. It's almost certain not to happen and I'm not even in any way convinced Gruden would be a good college coach. He's way too impatient with QBs and who knows if he can recruit.

If Dooley's fired, my top 3 candidates:

1) Tommy Tuberville

2) Mike Leach

3) June Jones

Petrino and Butch Davis would be great options as short term guys, but either would leave us in a lurch if we kept them too long.

Gruden would be a monster recruiter.

I'm thinking this too. He is a risky hire for whoever, but potentially could be great.

Um...

With Purdue and Illinois already 0-4 in the Big Ten, they can quickly be dismissed from the division title discussion.

Indiana is only 1-3. They just beat a pathetic Illinois team and have Iowa and Wisconsin at home. Then PSU and Purdue on the road.

Purdue? They already lost to Wisconsin. They play PSU, then at Iowa and at Illinois. Then Indiana at home.

So the teams play the same opponents the last 5 games. The only reason Indiana has a W in conference and Purdue doesn't is Indiana got Illinois first.

Doesn't matter. Wisconsin is going to win whichever division this is.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think IU will win the division lol. But is funny to me that it is even remotely possible after an 0-3 start. Why couldn't Wisconsin have gotten a bowl ban too? :P

It would be fun if it came down to a sub .500 team going to the Rose Bowl. Would they just cancel the auto-bid?

Could they get there without getting 3 more wins? 2 more to catch UW in the division and 1 more in the title game.

They're 3-5, if they won the two to catch UW that would put them at 5-5, if they lost the other 2 they would be at 5-7. UW would have to lose out though and that obviously won't happen. Then a win in the B1G Championship game would make them 6-7, right?

If Wisconsin loses to Indiana, I don't think it is out of the question that UW could lose out. They host Ohio State and travel to Penn State after that.

UCLA went to a bowl game last year at 6-7, so I would assume such a scenario wouldn't preclude IU from going to the Rose Bowl. That would be absolutely hilarious - unfortunately there's no chance of it happening.

For some reason I thought they had another game but they're on a bye this week. I can't imagine Bielema letting them lose to IU after a bye week when they know they have to beat IU to clinch a berth to Indy. If they beat IU the race is over. That being said if that happened and Purdue got to play spoilers to IU the last week of the year it might actually get some fire in the Purdue players.

Wait if UW loses out is their a fantasy situation where IU and Purdue play for the berth? Obviously that would mean Purdue beating Iowa, Penn St., Illinois. Yeah, nevermind.

Gruden would be a monster recruiter.

Would he? He's never done it before on a substantial level and would have one of the trickier schools in the nation to recruit to (since we're 100% a national recruiting team with no in-state base). I know he's got a Super Bowl ring, but he got that nearly a decade ago when most of the kids he'd be recruiting were 5-7 years old.

And he is very charismatic, but there's a lot of coaches who are really charismatic who are more proven in other areas (in the college game). I'm not saying he couldn't recruit, just that I don't know for sure that he could.

I want Frank Wilson (HB coach/RC at LSU) in Lexington.

until Anzalone leaves

yeah, who knows how that will play out. but he's in town Sunday/Monday to talk about the pre-med program.

Did UM lose 2 recruits this week? I saw a rumor today about another one.

man, Devin Gardner looks great...I'd love to know what coaches saw in Bellomy to move him to WR
