I don't get why he won't stop fighting it? If I knew I wasn't guilty I wouldn't throw in the towel. It just creates doubts and discredits his accomplishments.

I think it's more that the playing field is probably level, with many of the top riders using something or another. It's not that he never did anything. It's just a really hard argument to make publicly, because by making the argument you have to first admit that you were doping. After that, nobody's going to listen much to the "but everyone else is doing it too" part.

So he was doping and they probably had enough proof. Then it makes sense.

first thing, i cant imagine how in the world someone becomes a fan of cycling

secondovely, i cant imagine being such a big fan of cycling that you would care about something like this

I know. Half of Madison is crazy over cycling though, it seems. There are many, many people here who care about it.

fond du lac is like a fief of cyclists/triathletes. we have a shop in town called attitude sports that's owned by this guy who thinks he is lance armstrong http://www.attitudesports.com/bike.htm, he must be devastated today.

I don't care two shits about this but I have heard from several sources that he is a jackass. Including someone who knew a former nanny of his.

well, to fight it he needs to pay lawyers, probably expensive ones, and it gets harder to do that when one isn't earning money as a professional cyclist and a lot of endorsements have dried up due to doping rumors.

A great article that shows the positives and negatives of Livestrong and Lance in general.

The only thing I would say to debate that, is that for many cancers, like Testicular Cancer in particular, there really is nothing more to research, clinically speaking. Basically, if you follow the protocols of the surgery, radiation, and chemo, you have upwards of 98% chance of survival. The only way you can die really is if you ignore your case, hence the focus on awareness.

My father-in-law works at Trek HQ and has met Lance a few times. Never one-on-one, but always in a group setting. Lance had a huge entourage that fawned over him, and he acted genuinely put out by any request the Trek people made of him. He was there to check out his brand-new custom-made bike.

Heard an interview today where they said that if Armstrong doesn't go to arbitration, it's akin to admitting guilt.

That said, almost no one wins in arbitration anyways, so it's a lose-lose situation

Almost no one wins the Tour de France 7 times either. Tall odds haven't seemed to be a deterrent previously.

I'll I'm asking, is have they ever supplied a shred of credible evidence against him? Testosterone Therapy can be a treatment for this type of TC(I'm currently fighting the same type of cancer) so they say he overused it right? But do they have finite proof of it?

Went through the same thing, diagnosed in 2008. Coming up on my 4 year anniversary of diagnosis. Everything has worked out great for me so far. 2 surgeries and 3 rounds of chemo weren't fun, but worth it. If need any advice, or have questions, let me know.

My doctor was Armstrong's doctor. He always speaks highly of the work he has done for IU Medical Center. His opinion of the man is good enough for me.

Keep kicking ass, man. Cancer sucks.

at some point you have to just say that most participants were cheating and there's no point in modifying the results 10 or 15 years down the road.

The point of discussion now is who can revoke those results. Both the UCI and ASO (the organizers of the Tour) are not talking before they are given more information by USADA, but this whole thing has been a turf war between USADA and UCI all along.

Thanks. Again if he truly abused he deserves the ban, I just don't get the hate some people have against him.

There are definitely reasons why I can see people disliking him. He's kind of smarmy, and he left his wife for a pop singer.

That. But, this is also someone who changed people's lives beyond sports.

lol Lance. Sure, you just got tired of fighting it...uh huh. Had nothing to do with this...

http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-usada-armstrong-doping-20121010,0,5901743.story

In a statement emailed to news outlets, USADA Chief Executive Travis Tygart said, “The evidence shows beyond any doubt that” Armstrong’s “U.S. Postal Service Cycling team ran the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen.”

Tygart praised the “courage” of 11 Armstrong teammates who came forward: Frankie Andreu, Michael Barry, Tom Danielson, Tyler Hamilton, George Hincapie, Floyd Landis, Levi Leipheimer, Stephen Swart, Christian Vande Velde, Jonathan Vaughters and David Zabriskie.

“The USPS Team doping conspiracy was professionally designed to groom and pressure athletes to use dangerous drugs, to evade detection, to ensure its secrecy and ultimately gain an unfair competitive advantage through superior doping practices. A program organized by individuals who thought they were above the rules and who still play a major and active role in sport today.

“The evidence demonstrates that the ‘Code of Silence’ of performance enhancing drug use in the sport of cycling has been shattered, but there is more to do. From day one, we always hoped this investigation would bring to a close this troubling chapter in cycling’s history and we hope the sport will use this tragedy to prevent it from ever happening again.”

He's hallucinating if he thinks this will stop doping.

Of course, but like many careers you have to set that unobtainable goal to work towards, even knowing you'll never reach it.

It's sad that sports of that era, especially a sport like cycling that's so dependent on pure physical fitness, were so riddled with drugs. But does anyone really doubt that Lance Armstrong used performance enhancing drugs?

No sense in him fighting it at this point. There's no reason for him to perjure himself over and over again and just make it worse. We know what can happen then. Just walk away.
