Chicago is about to turn into Iowa City East this weekend. Go Hawks!

Yes I'm sure the town is about to be overrun, never have they seen the influx of sports fans from distant locales such as Cedar Rapids' little sister.

I was thinking Buchanan, Hawthorne, and Brown, but Pocic is there too and could get into the first with a good year.

The Lovers guide to top 25

Every year, we preview the upcoming college football season with a Hater's Guide to the Top 25, and every year I make the same jokes about Ohio State fans being dumb and Alabama fans being racist (it's true!), and it's always a great deal of fun. But this year, between the Hater's Guides and the Why Your Team Sucks installments, I dare say I'm hated out.

No one loves Nick Saban, and that's good because no one should ever love football coaches. Football coaches are horrible people.

Texas A&M's opener with La Tech moved to 10/13 for Hurricane Isaac. Aggies will now open with Florida. Welcome to the SEC, I guess.

So [expletive] pissed. That [expletive] town of Shreveport better get leveled by Isaac. We now play 12 straight weeks, including a 6-game stretch where 5 of the games are on the road. As if it wasn't going to be tough enough this season.

Really a bummer since those 2 suspended players will now miss an actual game. No coach would move a suspension for the first game to the middle of the season to so obviously have a full squad for a tougher game, right?

No, they'll sit out the LA Tech game as planned. One of them isn't even in the 2-deep right now so it's not a huge deal.

As planned. Ha.

Well that was the game they were suspended for. Not sure where the humor is.

They were suspended for the first game. You really don't see the joke in holding a suspension until October while playing in the key SEC games?

Not sure why it's such a big deal. It wasn't any major issue with the two players. Here is Kevin Sumlin's explanation on the decision.

“The decision was made before the Louisiana Tech game  and was explained to both guys. They weren’t involved in any of the preparation for the game. Howard Matthews is playing scout team wide receiver. To go back to back weeks with them being on scout team I didn’t think was right, and they were suspended for that game. With the storm, things changed a lot for everybody. What I told them from the beginning is that they were going to stay suspended for that football game.”

SBNation[/url]"]The nature of their transgression was so specific that only an afternoon spent not playing Louisiana Tech will suffice as a punishment. An afternoon spent not playing Florida has nothing to do with the exact rules broken by the pair, and in fact would only dilute the waters of justice. I don't get why this is so hard to understand.

Look, only one of the two guys is going to play and he is a safety. The one area on our crappy defense where we have depth is the secondary. We're going to win games by outscoring people, not shutting them down. It really isn't a big deal. If he was a starting QB or RB, then I could see your point.

You're really trying to pass this off as not being utter nonsense?

If it's no big deal, Sumlin should just suspend them for Florida b/c it's the first game instead of coming up with stupid excuses.
