Good to see the Black Hole, otherwise known as Geo Soto, is back in the lineup tonight.

I suppose every player has their one insane hater.

Weirdest lineup in Cubs history. Why not just put LaHair in LF and leave Campana and DeJesus in their spots?

RF presumably sees less action than LF and unlike at Wrigley, it's not harder to play than LF, so I'm good with putting the better fielders in left and center.

How is comparing his .551 OPS to a black hole in the lineup considered insane?

I'm guessing it doesn't have anything to do with actual defensive ability. It's to get LaHair comfortable when Rizzo comes up.

I'm good with that too. Better if LaHair does some hitting here soon.

Agreed. This move reeks of the Cubs officially starting Operation: Work Rizzo Into the Everyday Lineup, Any Way You Can.

What was the underlying change in the peripherals? I'd bet that neither of those lines represents the true performance level.

Bryan LaHair, 4/7-5/7: 96 PA, .388/.479/.800/1.279, 31% K%, 17% BB%, .535 BABIP

Bryan LaHair, 5/8-6/17: 112 PA, .225/.295/.373/.668, 31% K%, 11% BB%, .302 BABIP

Unfortunately, the peripherals look a lot closer to normal in the latter line.

I'm not arguing that he's any kind of a good hitter. But I'll stick with my position of having him bat in the ninth against a right hander over Reed.
