game threads are rocking these days.

Go Cubs (Iowa, Tenn, Daytona, Peoria, Boise & below)!

Go Theo + Jed (Get those trades made and picks signed)!

Go Castro, Barney, Garza + anyone else that may be here next year or tradeable!

Go Bryan LaHair (Sit on the bench with pride as a .356 career SLG MI bats as the tying run instead of you in the 9th!)

His slugging is so powerful it magically translates over to infinite defensive prowess at all positions!

The PH appearance should have been for Johnson, not Barney.

I prefer "desperately try to trade him then waive him August 1", but to each their own.

What was the underlying change in the peripherals? I'd bet that neither of those lines represents the true performance level.

Bryan LaHair, 4/7-5/7: 96 PA, .388/.479/.800/1.279, 31% K%, 17% BB%, .535 BABIP

Bryan LaHair, 5/8-6/17: 112 PA, .225/.295/.373/.668, 31% K%, 11% BB%, .302 BABIP

Unfortunately, the peripherals look a lot closer to normal in the latter line.

Why can't Hawk be on WCIU? It's hard enough having to watch the Cubs, but I'm forced to listen to their announcers while watching our wonderful baseball team.

Should be a fun game.

Edit: And wow, the line-up.

CF DeJesus

SS Castro

RF LaHair

DH Soriano

1B Clevenger

2B Barney

3B Valbuena

C Soto

LF Campana

seriously, what the [expletive] is this

It's pretty much the lineup we'll see when Rizzo gets up here. Just replace Soriano with Campana.

Weirdest lineup in Cubs history. Why not just put LaHair in LF and leave Campana and DeJesus in their spots?

I have no clue other than maybe he's tried both and he's more comfortable in right? Still, this seems to be a precursor to Rizzo coming up...

i kinda wish abraham lincoln vamp hunter was out, because I think i'd rather watch that than this game

Watching LaHair patrol RF might be worth tuning in for... it could get adventurous!

A) Having to worry about where to fit everyone defensively shouldnt be the primary concern within reason. I don't want to sacrafice 160 points of slugging just because the pinch hitter coming up doesn't play the same position as the guy he's replacing.

B) It's not difficult to bring someone like Cardenas in to play 2B in the 10th if the Cubs tie the game.

But as pointed out above, yeah it makes much more sense to PH him for Reed Johnson, however if the Cubs had loaded the bases with 2 outs, I'd want LaHair up over Barney.
