A pitcher threw a 1 hit, CG, shoutout with no BB every day this weekend. Lester (Fri), Miller (Sat), Sale (Sun).

Tim, any thoughts on this?

Yeah, it sucked hard.

He must be injured (spoilered for size):

He did have some sort of neck injury earlier in the year that they said was limiting him in doing something with his pitching mechanics and could be affecting his velocity.

matt cain hasnt had a 5-WAR season since 2009?

4.8 in 2011 was as close as he's come since. Bumgarner was 4.7 in 2011 also.

He's been outperforming his FIP/xFIP for years now, so he's a bit of an outlier in that aspect.

awesome

I'm not sure what's funnier, the player's reaction when he realizes the ball was caught, or the opposing team's reaction to the premature celebration.

So much greatness, though he deserves credit for a truly outstanding bat flip.

Tigers demoted Al Alburquerque, with a 2.32 FIP

In fairness, he also has 13 H and 13 BB in 14.1 IP.
