RT @BenBadler: Big baseball scandal. Stay tuned.

I'll believe it when I see it. How reliable is this guy?

Hearing rumors slowly making their way around Twitter that it has something to do with Soler.

Something with Soler would make sense, Badler handles a lot BA's prospect/scouting stuff. His twitter says he writes for BA covering prospects, scouting and player development. I'm not going to be productive this afternoon now until I hear what it is

EXHALE. It's not Soler:

@BenBadler One of baseball's biggest buscones had his son use a fake age, score a huge bonus and pass an MLB investigation

He's the premier English-writing international baseball guy around.

I see I should have checked this thread. I did the same exercise as you folks, worrying it was about Soler, in the IFA thread in the Minor League Forum.

Would've put this in the Bryce Harper thread but it was locked...

http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8047918/washington-nationals-bryce-harper-clown-question-retort-takes-off

TORONTO -- Bryce Harper's comebacks look ready for the big leagues, too.

The 19-year-old Washington Nationals outfielder quipped, "That's a clown question, bro," to a Toronto TV reporter who asked if he planned to take advantage of Canada's lower drinking age after belting a long home run in a win over the Blue Jays.

Harper is a Mormon, a religion that forbids alcohol. A Nationals PR staffer suggested the reporter try a different line of questioning, but Harper was ready.

"I'm not answering that," Harper said. "That's a clown question, bro."

Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia said he knew the identity of the reporter who asked the question and said he planned to "blow him up" when the team visits Toronto for three games beginning Sept. 14.

In Pedroia's opinion, Harper handled himself well.

"Poor kid," Pedroia said of Harper on Wednesday. "I would have said [expletive] you, I'm 19."

Apparently the Astros get new uniforms next season, and Uni watch had a contest to see who had the best design. I love some of these, especially who he picked as the winner. But my absolute favorite was only an honorable mention, spoilered for size.

Dusty and Derek Lowe got beef

After the game, Lowe insinuated that Baker has been instructing his pitchers to throw at him for the past five seasons due to a grudge that dates to Lowe’s final year with the Dodgers in 2008.

“Dusty will deny it,” Lowe said. “I have zero respect for the guy — not that it matters. I imagine he’d say the same about me” … The 39-year-old Cleveland starter hinted at an incident that was never made public during his time in Los Angeles, but he was not willing to offer up specific details.

and now for Dusty

“I’m not denying nothing. I didn’t order anyone to hit him. I told (Mat Latos) to buzz him and make him uncomfortable. That’s what happened. Nobody hit him. Then he hit our guy … What he was talking about was something that he said and did a few years. You got to ask him what that was … Go ask him since he made it public … The word was whatever he did and said probably there was a good chance he was drinking at the ballpark and he don’t remember what he said or what he did.”

Those are fantastic and I hope they do something like that. However, I could do without the "Sunday Special" ones he proposes. That uniform doesnt need a comeback.

So I decide that there's nothing I care about on on a Saturday afternoon, so I'll watch Nats/Yankees and get a good look at Bryce Harper.

0-6 with 5 Ks so far.

Andy Pettite completely owned him. In his 3 AB's against him that I saw, Harper had 9 swinging strikes.

Joey Votto has a .489 OBP this year, which would be the 26th best mark since 1901. Only Williams (8 times), Ruth (8), Bonds (4), Hornsby (3), Mantle and Vaughn put up a better OBP than that.

One of these things is not like the other.
