I'd still have to get like 5-1 or something on the Cubs reaching .500 thing.

Pretty sure I'm a buyer at 2-1.

9-6 in the last 15 with series wins over the NL Central and West leaders and the second-place team in the NL East. Edited by soccer10k

Dolis's contact rate is absurd. Near 90%, and that's lowered as a result of two swinging strikes in one outing against the Dodgers Sunday.

Early start on interleague play.

Nice win, huge 2 week stretch coming up though (@Mil, @STL, PHIL, CWS). If they can play .500 or better over this upcoming span you'd seriously have to think about upgrading the offense a bit, no?

Hell, I'm thinking about it RIGHT NOW.

Maybe, but it's awfully early to try and buy anything right now. If anything, I think we have to hope that Soriano goes on a hot streak, which is definitely possible. And then hope that while LaHair cools off, Stewart and Soto make up for it.

Plus, I think our reenforcements for this year will be Rizzo and Brett, instead of actually looking towards the trade market.

so the doomsayers that were projecting 100 losses are now focusing their energy on Soto, I see.

Soto is a big concern, no? He just looks stupid at the plate this season seeing one pitch and grounding out. I mean he won't stay at a .152 average but he's also not going to hit above .220 from what I've seen so far this year.

It does kind of suck to think that we might waste all this awesome pitching.

Where does our starting staff rank in baseball right now? There's quite a bit of damn good pitching throughout baseball and my guess is we're actually middle of the pack.

Right now I'm happy not wanting to gouge my eyes out while watching this team, even though the offense is pretty brutal. But soon I'm going to get greedy and want more.

I can't remember if I said they would lost 100 or not but I will say that I'm pleasantly surprised at LaHair, Shark, Campana, Dejesus Dolis, Russell and Dempster. Equally as disappointed in Soto, Barney, Marmol and Wood. This is no playoff team and I've thought all along that .500 would be the ceiling. Soto started slowly and is not immune from criticism.

Not including Maholm's start from today, the Cubs are 5th in baseball in starters' WAR (Phillies, Nationals, Marlins, Angels higher). 8th in starters' xFIP.

that's including relievers; our starters are 5th-best in all of baseball in FIP
