Maholm has fared well in career against the Braves, having a quality start in all six appearances against them.

It'd be nice to pick up a win heading into the day off.

Roto Update

Updating a previous item, Alfonso Soriano is getting the day off Wednesday due to a sore knee.

Cubs manager Dale Sveum isn't sure which knee it is, but it sounds like a day-to-day situation either way. Adrian Cardenas will make the start in left field Wednesday.

@BruceMiles2112: #Cubs: DeJesus RF, Campana CF, Castro SS, LaHair 1B, Stewart 3B, Soto C, Cardenas LF, Barney 2B, Maholm P

Cardenas did spend about half of 2011 in LF for the's A's AAA team last year, but the fact that they gave up on him despite his bat continueing to be solid suggests that it didn't go so well.

Surprise. LaHair gets on leading off and everyone else behind him does [expletive]

Dude, the Braves can't even get a guy on base leading off today to do nothing behind him. They [expletive] SUCK.

I wonder why it took Maholm a few games to get going. He looks so good right now. It wasn't just randomness, he really had problems with his command at first.

Trying to watch this and the US Chess championships at the same time.

I'm hoping Epstein turns out to be more Kasparov than Fischer. Starlin Castro is clearly Capablanca (Brilliant but flawed, though the flaws can be overlooked because of his age).

Man between LaHair, Dempster (5/10 rights aside) and Maholm, the Cubs could have some pretty fantastic trade chips come the deadline.

so has anyone started the "What can we get for Maholm?" thread?

He's signed to a team friendly contract. He's no #1 ace that teams tend to look for at the deadline but he might net a decent prospect. I doubt he gets traded though.

Garza possibly too.

They certainly could clean up trade wise if they wanted to.
