What happened? Castro tried for an inside the parker?
Posted
so has anyone started the "What can we get for Maholm?" thread?

He's signed to a team friendly contract. He's no #1 ace that teams tend to look for at the deadline

he's more a #7 starter on a contending team

What happened? Did they try and send Castro home for an inside the parker? Was it even close?

Line drive down the right field line. OFer dove for it and missed, it went all the way to the wall. Castro was sent home and out pretty easily.

With two outs, they were basically gambling on a bad throw and didn't get it.

If Maholm were to be dealt, I'd think we could get a return along the lines of what we got for Gorzelanny. Gorzelanny was cheaper and had an extra year or so of control, but Maholm is slightly better at the very least.

Sounds about right, but I can't remember who came back for Gorzelanny. I suppose that says something.

Gorz had questions about durability and maturity.

Anyone else watching via the CBS Game Tracker app? I keep getting an annoying Wendy's Blimp ad in multiple times per inning.

True. He may would bring back a slightly better return. As for who we got for Gorz, it was Michael Burgess, a former supplemental rounder who was averagish with the Nats, but was a top 10ish type prospect for them at the time of the trade, AJ Morris, a pitcher who was a borderline top 20ish prospect for them but had injury issues, and I think some projectable lefty SP named Hicks. I think he was a 4th round pick out of high school and had some upside, but had struggled for them. I remember thinking at the time, we got a hell of a package for him anyway, obviously didn't pan out though.

The Cubs are 4th in MLB in defensive efficiency. They were 26th last year.

How about baserunning from last year to this one?

You smash a line drive at the pitcher's head when the 2nd baseman isn't covering second and he still catches it? Got to be frustrating
