He mentioned Camp and minor leaguers, pulled McNutt out of his ass.

Dempster, Camp AND McNutt? [expletive] that.

I'm expecting Gould to be the centerpiece, which will be very disappointing.

I am too. But Gould is fine. He'd easily be our 2nd best pitching prospect, behind Vizcaino.

No. He'd be behind Maples and Johnson, at the very least - and in a deep system, a rag-armed guy like Gould might not be in the top 10 pitching prospects.

In order news, Jason Parks over at Baseball Prospectus doesn’t exactly paint a rosy picture around prized prospect Zach Lee, who he sees as a #3/#4 starter. The takeaway quote, in regards to ranking Lee second to Garrett Gould:

You might be asking, how can a prospect with a proletarian profile rank number one in a system like includes a high-profile name like Zach Lee? The easy answer is that I couldn’t find one source that preferred Lee to Gould

Johnson maybe. Maples is a definitive no, right now. And thefe's not a system in baseball, Toronto included, that Garrett Gould isn't a top 10 pitching prospect for. And he's far from a rag arm.

Demp to LA very close. Multiple players involved. No surprise Demp winds up with Dodgers.

If Dempster to Dodgers is multi-player package, James Russell might be another guy on the move.

That's what I was thinking.

Not really very happy with that, if true.

Take McNutt, he sucks.

Webster would be highway robbery. RT @bmix22: @Kevin_Goldstein Cubs should get much more than Allen Webster for Dempster/Russell package.

The Cubs' liberation from Dumpster will be like VE Day. Still, it ain't over till it's over, and the chance that Dumpster might snatch defeat from the mouth of victory remains...

I like James Russell. Poo.

Me too. Would much rather it be Camp included.

hahahahaha, yes.

I like Russell, but he's getting close to arbitration eligible isn't he? His trade value will be at its highest while pitching well at dirt cheap prices.

Arbitration eligible 2013.

twitter is saying we're giving up at least one player with dempster. that has to mean we're getting something better than gould, right?

I really hope we don't trade Russell. Is this considered "caving in" or are we just so in love with Webster?

That's definitely not caving. That's targetting who you want and doing what it takes to get him.
