There isn't a distinction to be made here?

Of course there is. Reports are things that come from legitimate sourced information that we want to here. Speculation are things that are either just guessing or that we don't want to hear.

Holy [expletive], now we're splitting hairs. His report is based on speculation from sources that are not the person they claim does not want something.

I'm splitting hairs because I think you're trying to discredit the report because you don't like what it says. It's not "pure speculation." That is misleading as hell.

Jesus Christ, Demp, [expletive] or get off the pot. You want to go to a contender but not *that* contender? It's 2 months. Suck it up and after October you never have to put on a Braves uniform again if you don't want. Cripes.

I don't give a [expletive] what it says. The whole point I made was that there isn't going to be some sort of mass revolt because Dempster doesn't want to go to the Braves right now as suggested by that one guy because a small number of lunatics on nsbb.com overreact all the time.

My biggest issue is the Braves pulling the offer, ala Dodgers with Carlos Lee. Seeing that they were willing to give up Delgado for Greinke could give Philly or Milwaukee info that puts them on the phone saying we'll give you a BETTER rental for just a bit more than that, or even just that, for all we know.

That happens and we have absolutely zero leverage.

Well, yea.

But if this deal falls through, I think being pissed off is justified. And it's not looking good right now, at best.

Of course it would be justified then, but it's not looking like anything right now. Only Dempster really knows what he's thinking. I really don't see the need to stress until the door is closed on this thing.

Fine. It's not pure speculation. It's a report that is speculating from sources.

Oh, and I could care less what side its on. It was "confirmed" by reports from sources yesterday. I think we all learned we shouldn't jump the gun right now.

I don't want to go on too much with this...but it doesn't look very likely that the sources were wrong yesterday. The deal was agreed to. Atlanta practically confirmed it.

Which was wrong. Which leads me to wonder whether it was really Delgado coming back, or if that was just pieced-together rumor as well.

Per Roto:

ESPN's Jayson Stark was told by a source that the status of the Ryan Dempster-to-Braves deal should be resolved "shortly."

Edit: Beat again!

Fair enough.

Obviously I'd prefer to see him get dealt for a long-term asset, but he's also earned the right to stay if he wants. I'm not going to be pissed if he stays.

i think we've heard enough in regards to his willingness to be traded if it helps the cubs and his willingness to go to atlanta that i'll be right to be upset if he doesn't go.

I think it's fine to say that he has earned that right to stay. But the fans that have been around a lot longer than Dempster have the right to be upset if he screws us out of several years of what could be a pretty good pitcher.

That's where I stand. If he didn't want to be moved he could have said that. But, when he said he would to certain teams and then Theo found one of those teams, he has to go or look like a dbag.

I understand why some would be upset, and I wouldn't necessarily blame them.

Yep, and I don't know that I'll be that "upset", but definitely disappointed.
