How can anybody take AZPhil's scouting "eye" seriously when he proclaimed that Prior looked to be in 2003 form in ST in 07? Dude went out a week later and was topping out at 83 mph.

His scouting "eye" has nothing to do with anything. It's the fact he sees these guys play, has stats no one else does, and passes along some info he hears. It's info we would definitely never get otherwise. I don't care about his scout's view at all. But recaps from these games, stats, hearing who all shows up at Fitch, possible transactions before they're announced? Yeah, I think he's got some good stuff.

He provides box scores and recaps of extended spring training games that you otherwise might hear a sentence or two about all summer long. There's no scouting eye involved in that type of info and you know to take any scouting info beyond velocity readings with a grain of salt.
