Here's hoping Illinois can go more than 7 deep next year.

ibby was a scholarship filler, wouldn't have been part of the rotation in a million years.

Right, so now that he's transferring, maybe they can go more than 7 deep next year, unlike this year.

Abrams, Nunn, Bertrand, Hill, Henry, Egwu, Colbert, Morgan, Lyle, and whatever 5th year guy takes Ibbys ride. Groce is going to have to play his freshman.

I assume you mean Rice instead of Lyle. Also, do you think Tate plays much?

Lol, yeah. Oops. I think Tate gets some run. I think we will play very deep next year.

I understand the allure of premiere jobs like UCLA, but I kind of like when coaches like Smart and Stevens stick with the program and really allow it to grow into something as opposed to just a couple of nice years. I hated when Dave Leito left DePaul for UVA when he was really started to build something, and he ended up falling flat on his face and is now an assistant at Missouri (after a stint as a head coach in the NBDL)

Looks like Shaw and Langford are transferring from Illinois as well.

I'm not at all suprised. There is a reason I didn't include any of them up above. Good luck guys.

ESPN says that Stevens said "no thanks" to UCLA and will remain at Butler. Smart move, IMO, for the reasons I mentioned above.

This is why I wasn't insulting Illinois last year when I said I didn't think Stevens would go there. I never have thought he'd leave even for all the top-6 jobs. I think there are two of those he would certainly go to, two he probably would, and two he probably wouldn't.

I thought Langford might stick around since he redshirted already. I'm just assuming Shaw winds up at DePaul and Langford goes JUCO so he doesn't have to sit out another year. Djimde, who knows, I figured he'd stay, graduate in 3, and move on.

Everyone is mentioning that Langford might be getting a hardship deal to be able to play right away.

Rumor has it Purdue is going to have between 1-3 players leaving.... supposedly Anthony Johnson might go, Lawson is a near lock it seems... Marcius is graduating and Purdue wants him back but he might go back to Europe...

Is Egwu the only non Guard returning?

Henry and what do you call Bertrand?

Yeah, idk, I was just looking at the roster, I guess they have Henry listed as G/F. Bertrand is listed as a guard.

Hnery was a stretch 4 this year. But, Bertrand I am not really sure what I would list him as. I guess he's a guard/forward.

Yes. Obviously I'm guessing. I have met him and his wife . . . but obviously this isn't something they're going to discuss with me, haha. I should add that I don't mean to exclude any non top-6 job, just that his list is likely very limited (like, it wouldn't shock me if he thought harder about Illinois than UCLA).

I absolutely think he thought harder about Illinois than UCLA. And would think harder about Valpo than he would Kentucky. I don't think he'd leave for KU though, but like you said I'm working on even more limited knowledge than you are.

My suspicion about Illinois is that he was concerned with dealing with recruiting Chicago.

As for Kansas, maybe not, it just doesn't seem to have the obvious things Stevens likely would consider issues. But it also might not be the obvious fit he wants either.

I think John Groce told him to piss off it was his job, so Brad did.

Or Stevens was smart and saw his style probably wouldn't have made many fans that hated Weber's style happy.

Yeah, I'm really onboard with Groce.

Had Bennett at St Marys not been involved with recruiting violations, he wouldve been perfect for NU instead of Collins given his Aussie connections.

I think UCLA should go after Williams at Marq to test waters. Who would be the top assistants right now?

tate isn't good, at all, i doubt he sees the floor. nunn is going to get the backup PG minutes.

I've only seen his ESPN games, but I thought Tate was good enough to get around ten minutes a game. We'll see I guess.
