Meaning what you've read on twitter? Jesus, you don't even have the right 2 teams.

guess i didn't.

SeldomSeen nailed Gary Harris to IU, so give him a break.

Anya to NC State.

How in the hell is Gotfried recruiting like this?

For Anya, NC State was literally the only team still recruiting him. Indiana dropped out a couple weeks ago, so he didn't really have a choice unless he waited for other teams to recruit him.

Why do you think those teams stopped recruiting him? We know IU didn't stop due to scholarship limits.

Because, as I said at the time right before his rankings-drop, he's not that good. He has a lot of potential with his size/length, but he's not there yet. Which is why it was so laughable that people thought IU hired an assistant coach just for Anya.

The UCLA/IU game (assuming it happens Tuesday) should be pretty good. Georgia doesn't look to be very good at 1-2 with losses to 2 mid-major conference teams, at least 1 of them at home. UCLA should be the first legit team IU sees and they also have some size inside and the ability to match (or surpass) IUs athleticism on the perimeter. Oladipo vs. Muhammad should be a fun matchup to watch, though I'd imagine Watford gets the assignment a lot too.

If IU and UCLA do play, I actually expect IU to lose. IU is undersized right now and UCLA is pretty darn huge (including in the backcourt -- while IU can go bigger at guard, they start small). IU currently has one true interior player (a really good one, no doubt) and two players that are hybrid type college forwards (Watford, Hollowell), though Watford has certainly improved his rebounding/interior play.

AJ Hammons will play in the NBA. He can shoot for a big man and is a load at 7' 260.

He just has to keep working hard. He was a steal for Purdue.

I'm pumped about him, Ronnie Johnson, and Simpson. I'm not sold on Davis yet. This year is going to be rough, but Painter brought that on himself with poor recruiting classes in 2 of the last 3 years. 5 freshmen getting significant minutes.

Davis has talent, but every time I saw him he was an extreme ball hog. Painter will have to break him of that, if possible, though perhaps there may be room for such a player as of now.

UCLA may not be the best team IU faces this season (especially not at this point of the season), but they may be the toughest matchup. They got 4 bigs to throw at Zeller, and not just bodies. All 4 are capable of double digit point/rebound games. They got size/length/athleticism on the wing that can compete or surpass IUs. IU doesn't like to play very big (not capable of that right now anyway), so the key is if UCLA makes IU go big to matchup. And not necessarily with Zeller, Watford, and Hollowell on the floor at the same time. But IU doesn't really play Sheehey and Oladipo together a ton. So far this year, they've played a lot with 2 of Hulls, Yogi, Abell (who's been amazing FWIW) on the floor together. That could really hurt IU defensively and put too much on Zeller defensively on the interior. Shooting the ball could be a factor. I'd like to think IU can outshoot them from 3. But UCLA has had a decent start from there and IU has typically had trouble shooting the ball on the road.

Honestly, I think it's going to come down to how the game is called. As an IU fan, I can honestly say Zeller gets almost any call he wants. If that happens, UCLA won't have much of a chance.

Nevermind. He just committed to Ohio State. Strike one John Groce.

Good lord.

We historically own recruiting south of I-80 in the state. This is a huge miss. Maybe Groce will get the message he shouldn't be flirting with Indiana kids.

I get that it sucks we missed on him, but Groce only had 6 months of recruiting him. He also just got Kendrick Nunn using the our state, our program pitch. I think he understands the value of recruiting Illinois. I think that what hurt us here is targeting the mean streets program and the Chicago aau scene. Mullins apparently is pretty pissed at us. Oh well.

You guys have a way better opinion of UCLA than I do.

Sure, they have the bigs but the Wears aren't athletic and generally fill up the stat sheet only against cupcakes, Parker will have only played 4 college games and Smith is a 350 lb enigma.

I watched most of the UCLA-Indiana State game and yeah I wasn't overly impressed. UCLA didn't seem to have much discipline on the offensive end, just kind of jacking up shots. During that broadcast the announcers said Smith was in much better shape compared to last season? Good god, how much did he weigh last year? 8-[

He lost maybe 10 pounds. He really isn't in better shape, he just looks like he actually cares now.

Is him being around Tony Parker a good thing for Parker?

Parker looks far more motivated than Smitg ever was. Plus being close friends with Shabazz and his incredible work ethic have to help.

So apparently Kendall Stephens is going to try to play his senior season of basketball with the torn labrum. Can't say I blame him, but man I hope he doesn't hurt himself more.

Perea and Jurkin have been granted an exception to travel to New York with the team (timing is weird since the team is already there?) and the appeals hearing will be on Friday. It would be nice to have these guys back for the UNC game.

Edit - apparently the appeals hearing is tomorrow now. That would be funny if they got cleared to play against UCLA.

Crean just gave the most detailed halftime walking-off-the-court interview I've ever seen.

Took IU 30 minutes to start playing, but they did enough in the final 10 to pull away. Hulls and Oladipo saved them tonight.

Perea and Jurkin hearing is tomorrow. Theoretically they could play tomorrow, but I wouldn't count on it.

If eligible, I bet Jurkin gets in tomorrow. He's healthy, been practicing and can give a few minutes up front if needed.

If eligible, I'm sure both will play. I think Perea is over his foot issue.

My comment had more to do with them probably not being granted eligibility for tomorrow night. Hoping it is at least reduced somewhat. Need those guys for UNC.

Hah. Good call by me. I`ll own that one, for sure. I should never post while drinking, especially after spending the last few days witth a bunch of blowhard coaches. Talking to one, who shouldve known better, who swore Michigan was it and OSU, PU, and Ill were on the outside looking in. It sounds like they pushed really hard in the last couple of weeks, especially once Vonleh cancelled his visit.

Anyway, good get for them, good call by you, bad form by me.
