A school is also able to over-sign if a player will obviously be gone (such as one-and-done's). It's pretty clear that IU would be able to do so with Cody Zeller's spot. Where the other spot is coming from, I have no idea.

Obvious as judged by whom? It's not much of a rule at that point.

If pay-walled, the rule -- which is a Big Ten rule, not an NCAA rule, to be clear -- states, "An institution may have no more than 1 initial offer in excess of its institutional limit outstanding at any time."

As for interpretation: "Where we get questions is, what standard has to be met?" Big Ten associate commissioner for compliance Chad Hawley said. "What if you had a cut and dried, no-doubt-about-it one and done player, zero chance that player is going to be back? What our advice has been - and it's not a set standard - but the advice has been, if you know with certainty that spot will be available, we will not consider you over-offered if you anticipate that situation. It can come up in different ways: Someone you know is going to turn professional, a situation where a student-athlete had a scholarship awarded and you awarded it to someone who knew they were only going to get it for one year."

So...it's not much of a rule at that point.

Nope.

The Illini will most likely have two scholarships for 2014, i do not expect Mike Shaw back.

I do however expect KBD in an Illini uniform.

Agreed on both counts.

Hoosiers looking like the #1 team tonight. Wasn't particularly blown away by the first 2 games, but they are playing very well tonight. Shooting 60% from the field, hitting almost 1/2 their 3s, getting to the line at will, 30-11 rebound advantage, 31 points allowed thru first 28 minutes, but most impressive are the 19 assists on 23 baskets. Obviously not playing a good team (favored by 31 1/2) but they are beating this team up like they should and clicking on almost all cylinders (FT shooting ugly).

KBD is Groce's must get recruit. Central Illinois kid in the Top 25. If ever there is a prototypical highly ranked Illinois recruit over the last 20 years, it's him. The last one to spurn us was probably Livingston.

ESPN doing a live look in on Kansas barely beating Chattanooga and the Kansas announcers sound like they're beating Kentucky. embarrassing announcing.

So DePaul got blown out at home by Gardner-Webb by 13...yes Gardner-Webb.

If that's not bad enough, Gardner-Webb played LAST NIGHT in NC and lost to something called Lipscomb.

Want worse? Gardner-Webb was missing their 2 best players.

Oliver Prunell might be in trouble...so much for the program builder

If Illinois runs off players from the previous regime, would you say they've been "Groce'd out"?

I tried to get that going when Orris was released. It didn't take.

They were down twelve in the second half and came back to win the game. Are the announcers supposed to sound bored?

Your argument doesn't make any sense. The team was losing. They came back to win, avoiding a huge upset. Thus, the crowd and announcers were excited. Seems like pretty standard stuff to me.

I'm not arguing anything. I'm a third party observer laughing at your announcers. Booyah! Our 5 stars are in a desperate comeback to crush your no stars!
