rivals is bad for bball

I usually look at all three of Rivals/Scout/ESPN just to get a general idea. Scout has Purdue's 2012 class rated better (all in the Top 100) than Rivals and ESPN do.

Stephens in front of Hill is interesting. Stephens wasn't really dominant in the Upstate 8, and doesn't face a lot of great competition in that league. I'm going to be watching him closely come AAU time.

I suspect that a lot of this is carryover from last year which explains why Hamilton is rated so highly. More credible rankings will come after the summer AAU circuit. Either way, it's nice to see that OSU doesn't have 5 top 30 kids committed at this point for a change. Also noteable is the absence of Sterling Brown, the kid is going to be a big time player for someone.

Stephens was hurt for most of the AAU season last year. He's had a couple of very good performances so far to start this season. I'm not saying he'll end up better than Hill, there is a lot of time left, but he dropped in the rankings last year after he got hurt.

They are both good gets. I'm excited for Hill.

it appears Scout has UM #9 and Rivals have us #5, but i'll have to check with SSR to make sure that's right

And ESPN is reporting that all those guys aren't leaving the program!

Yeah I agree.

Stephens is so important for Purdue because he actually has a jump shot. Terone Johnson and Rapheal Davis struggle mightily in that regard and Bryson Scott is another slasher as well. I'm expecting Anthony Johnson to improve his jump shooting, but Stephens will be our best pure shooter the day he steps on campus. We've gotta have Anthony Johnson and Stephens spread the floor or TJ/RD/BS will struggle.

Does Stephens shoot better than 30% from the FT line too?

I assume Terone is going to be shooting 150k FTs this summer...

Someone tell Rothstein that's not possible.

The fact that he's blocking ACC schools and Florida because Wisconsin plays them is really sad. Still don't know why he's blocking Iowa State.

Again, it's pretty obvious he thinks they tampered with him.

A few schools are commonplace, but I can't recall this many restrictions ever being placed on a transfer. But again, I have no idea why this is legal. (I get the concept to stop other schools from recruiting your kids while they're on scholarship, but [expletive], this is far beyond the spirit of the rules.)

According to Rivals, Iowa St. recruited Uthoff. I'm unsure of the specifics, but recall it was Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, and a couple other programs after him hard. I'm guessing with respect to Iowa St., Ryan feels he put resources into the recruitment where Iowa State was a player, and doesn't want Uthoff at a school he recruited against. I don't have a problem with restricting him from there if that is the case. Blackballing the entire ACC is unacceptable.

such BS.

coaches put time and resources into recruiting hundreds of guys. they aren't owed anything because of the "resources" they put in recruiting a kid. give me a break...that's moronic.

agreed with SSR...no idea why this is allowed/legal. so funny that ryan went on mike and mike to try and salvage the situation...
