So I think all the major players have decided if they're returning.

For the B1G next year I've got:

Tier 1

Indiana / Michigan

Tier 2

Michigan St. / Ohio St.

Tier 3

Illinois / Iowa / Minnesota / Purdue / Wisconsin

Tier 4

Nebraska / Northwestern / Penn St.

6 to 8 NCAA Tourney teams?

I think I'd swap MSU and Wisconsin, depending on Nix's suspension.

ETA: Is DeShaun Thomas staying in school? I'd put OSU on tier one too

Thomas is staying. I doubt Nix get's much of a suspension. Probably an exhibition game or something.

Then

Tier 1

Indiana/Michigan St/OSU

Tier 2

Michigan/Wisconsin/Illinois

Tier 3

Iowa/Purdue/Northwestern

Tier 4

Nebraska/Minnesota/

Tier doesn't have Bruce Weber to pad their record anymore

Penn State

I really like the upside potential for all of the Tier 3 teams by the way. All of them COULD do good things next year. I only really expect Penn St., Nebraska, and Northwestern (no Shurna) to suck.

Screw tiers.

1. Indiana

2. Ohio State

3. Michigan State

4. Michigan

5. Wisconsin

6. Purdue

7. Illinois

8. Iowa

9. Minnesota

10. Northwestern

11. Nebraska

7. Iowa

8. Purdue

9. Northwestern

10. Nebraska

11. Minnesota

12. Forfeit

ETA: 8 tourney teams to abide by the rule that everyone ahead of Northwestern makes the tourney.

1. Ohio State

2. Indiana

3. Wisconsin (isn't it a law they finish top 4)

5. Michigan St

10. Northwestern

11. Nebraska

Ok, no Tiers...

5. Illinois

slotting a 6-12 team losing their best player over B1G champs returning all five starters and adding a consensus top-10 freshman class, makes perfect sense

I agree Michigan should be ahead, but who were they starting? They had 6 players playing more than 11 minutes a game, and they lost 3 of them.

um, i guess i badly botched my point (was watching football at the time) that was more meant that we didn't lose any players of major significance (returning three starters and the two we're losing were routinely mismatched athletically and get replaced by five-star types)

point well remains that putting UI over UM next year is homer-ish lunacy

And as we all know, the only response for homer-ish lunacy is to out homer-ish lunacy it.

It wasn't that long ago that UM went from tourney to losing record despite returning everyone of significance. I think Michigan was overrated and overperformed this year, while Illinois way underperformed their talent level.

ETA: Plus, our coach is undefeated against Michigan.

Which is pretty silly, I think. Michigan State certainly has a good roster -- and Gary Harris is a great talent who I think will be an impact player -- but they weren't the second best team in the nation last year and lose Draymond Green (who was basically everything for them).

Edit: I also suspect people are underrating Wisconsin here. They lose Jordan Taylor, but he wasn't actually that great for them this year, and Sam Dekker is likely going to be really good right away.

What does Gary Harris have to do with MSU? He'll be pouring in buckets in Bloomington

Har har har. It'd be funny if anyone that posts on this board every said he'd definitely commit to IU, which I'm nearly certain did not happen (frankly, I have tons of IU fans as friends and all thought it was a long shot that he'd come to IU . . . but I'm sure someone somewhere said elsewise on the interwebs somewhere).

According to "sources" and being reported by Jeff Goodman at Fox, Watford is coming back!

Excellent news if it is accurate.

Ok, so who's scholarship is getting whacked?

Who is scholarship?

My Engrish teachers were Hoo Hoo Hoosiers growing up.
