Some good news for the day. Colts are going to make Bruce Arians their offensive coordinator. This means Clyde Christensen is OUT as OC. This could be significant because Lovie wanted Christensen back in 2009 when the Bears got Martz. But Christensen was not available because Tom Moore retired and the Colts promoted him in order to keep him from leaving for an OC job.

i heard an interview on the score with a KC radio personality saying that the pioli regime is horrible and anyone and everyone are looking to get out, and that this not only gives emery a promotion, but a way out of that weirdness and hostile work environment. he had good things to say about emery, but whatever, i'm unconvinced.

that means nothing for us unless he wants to be our passing coordinator, which he won't.

Not a fan, but this is much harder to truly get a grasp on than baseball is, so I'll give him a shot as the decision maker and see how it goes. This isn't exactly inventing the wheel though: Cutler needs weapons, both to catch and to block. The defense could use a little youth. A few good moves and we're a legit contender.

Which radio personality?

EDIT: Nevermind, found that it's Nick Wright.

The Score is laughing about how this dude doesn't even have a Wikipedia page.

Meh I'm just glad we have someone in place so we can plan the offseason now. Excited that it's not a Jerry Angelo offseason and anxious to see how this guy handles the team.

i just noticed no wikipedia page, lol. i was trying to find out when he went to atlanta. if you assume he did so before the 2004 draft.

2004- deangelo williams, michael jenkins, matt schaub, demorrio williams are still playing football in the NFL.

2005- roddy white, jonathan babineaux, chauncey davis, michael boley (of recent note) and frank the tank are still in the league.

i have to go, but will take up this list later.

He'll fill a spot until Lovie's contract is up. I can't blame the Bears for this hire. The Bears weren't going to get an A+ candidate with Lovie still there.

This makes no sense.

CBS affiliate WSCR-AM in Chicago reported Saturday that new Bears GM Phil Emery will not retain current player personnel director Tim Ruskell. Emery worked for Ruskell in Atlanta and Ruskell also interviewed for the Bears GM post.

Why not? If the Bears come calling....it's either the Bears job or no job. Gets to work with an elite talent at QB and probably with an offense that seems to be focused on becoming more explosive in the pass game. And it's not like Christensen gets credit for being the mastermind behind the great Colts offense. Peyton Manning basically called his own plays, so it's not like NOT calling every play will turn him off completely from the job.

Cool. That's a bit of a surprise to me.

Off-topic, but I love Nick Wright. He hates Pioli something fierce though. He never misses a chance to bag on him. That's not why I love him though, he's just a fun guy to listen to since he gets so riled up.

Oh, and then there was the fact that he wanted the Royals to trade Mike Moustakas for Randy Wolf last year because we needed some pitching. He's not very good at baseball stuff. :)

Others have said it was so bad he was bugging offices, tapping phone lines.

So, apparently, Phil Emery is referenced a TON, in "The War Room", by Michael Holley. I'm actually going to pick the book up when I get a chance, but here are some online excerpts from the book, with "Emery-specific" search results.

http://books.google.com/books?id=k-iqNejz9qoC&printsec=frontcover&dq=war+room&hl=en&sa=X&ei=P_AkT9PnMIiKgwfB_Iy1Dw&ved=0CDoQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=emery&f=false

Love, LOVE, his philosophy on running backs. Put it like this, if Emery is our GM in 2007, there is no way in hell we waste a pick on Garrett Wolfe. Might I say, I'm warming up a bit to this hire? Lots of good stuff I read there.
