Lovely, the Celtics are trying to trade their best player because Rivers doesn't get along with him.

Hope you're ok with winning 30 every year Doc.

i don't get it. isn't that literally the only guy you'd want to keep around for the future?

they should punt this season and trade all of allen/pierce/kg at the deadline. they'd be able to get a lot for all 3 of those guys.

my mind was blown when i found out that westbrook was shooting 47% this season. i knew he had been better, but i figured he was still around 45%

without looking it up, i'd say he's finishing at the basket better than before.

plus most teams who need Rondo are a terrible fit trade-wise with Boston

Well he's signed for 4 years, so anyone could use him, the problem is if you trade him to a good team, they're not going to want to give up actual current pieces for him, and their draft picks are worthless. If you trade him to a bad team, you have to take on one of their garbage contracts, completely punt the next couple seasons and hope you get lucky in the lottery. It's just a really stupid idea.

How about Portland for Rondo? Middle of the 1st round pick in a solid draft, Batum, and Felton. I admit to being a big fan of Batum though.

To me, Boston can beat ANY team in a 7 game series, but they can't hold up for 4 straight playoff series. They either need to add a piece to at least try or they need to sell off completely. Allen is certainly movaable for picks and expirings. Garnett and Pierce may be harder to move and not take a relatively bad deal back as part of it, but it's possible. Do it this way, you wind up with a high pick of your own, a decent pick involved in a Rondo trade, more picks for the big 3, and tons of cap room moving forward. I think they could rebuild very quickly myself, especially in the East. Playoff team next season with tons of upside moving forward.

Pierce is signed for 3 years, so I'm guessing he doesn't have much in terms of trade value.

With the trading deadline two weeks away, multiple league sources indicate that Paul Pierce and Ray Allen — not Rajon Rondo — are drawing the most interest from potential trade partners

Teams wanting to trade for him doesn't mean they're willing to give up anything of value.

Um earlier this year you said that was Paul Pierce. Maybe if the good fans can't tell the difference, said guy isn't so good he can't be traded?

I wanted Ray Allen on the Bulls last year, and will take him this year too.

Bobcats pick.

I would do it. It's tough to give that pick up for a short term upgrade but Ray Allen is a player that can make a legit difference against the Heat.

The problem for the Bulls is matching salaries. This is especially true because they could very well go over the luxury tax with a trade like this which would make it harder to match. I'm not sure what combination Boston would accept, the Bulls would give up, and would fit salary wise. There are combinations that work (such as two of Korver, Brewer, and Watson) but would either side accept that sort of deal?

The Pacers are a great match for Allen or maybe even Rondo (cheap young players the Celtics could use, and the ability to save the Celtics luxury tax money by being able to absorb a bunch of salary). But they seem to be big on team chemistry right now, and I'm guessing they won't look to pull off a deal of that magnitude.

Heading into this year it was Paul Pierce. Then I saw Pierce play half of a season and realized he isn't any longer.

how many years does Allen have left? Could you do a straight up Ray for Rip deal?

Why would Boston do that?

Rip is on a one-year deal, so they'd be free of that cap space next year?

Rip has another guaranteed year next year with a team option for the year after that. Allen's deal expires after this year. And no, their salaries don't match. The Bulls would have to add more salary to the deal.

I wouldn't. I don't see Allen making a huge difference against the Heat when we already have Rip as a SG and Korver and Watson as three point threats. I'd like to have him, but I'd rather keep the Bobcats pick for something more valuable.

You don't see Ray Allen making a huge difference compared to the 12 minutes Hamilton will be healthy for and the corpse of Kyle Korver?
