Way to take your ball and go home, MLB.

What?

Seems like it's out of spite, because the "independent" arbitrator ruled against MLB. I'm not saying Braun is innocent or guilty (although he's probably guilty), but this just reeks of spite.

I wonder if the Player's Union is going to do anything. "Ok, here's the deal.: You're an "independent" arbitrator, but if you rule against us, we'll fire you."

What exactly do you think the Player's Union can do? The arbiters can be fired by either side with or without cause.

I understand that. The arbitrator is someone agreed upon by both sides who can be dismissed by either side at any time. My point is that it's just petty and spiteful on MLB's part. Yes, they were legally within their rights to do so, but that doesn't make it any less petty.

It's not petty, he set a dumbass precedent

I don't think its petty, its just how the game works. I think the arbitrator knew that he would probably get fired for siding with the players union, but I think I had read that he had sided with the MLB on a couple of recent arbitrations and figured he would definitely get canned by the union if he didnt side with them on this issue. He was damned either way.

So refusing to use an arbitrator that made a horrible ruling against you is petty?

Um, no.

It may be petty if the ruling was widely accepted as fair but against MLB. Refusing to subject yourself to further terrible decisions is good business.

gio exonerated

According to two sources familiar with Bosch's operation, however, the Washington Nationals' Gio Gonzalez, previously identified as being named in Biogenesis documents, did not receive banned substances from Bosch or the clinic.

Both sources, speaking independently, identified Gonzalez as the only Bosch client named thus far who did not receive performance-enhancing drugs. A document obtained by "Outside the Lines" bolsters their case: On a computer printout of clients, Gonzalez, identified by the code name "Gladiator," is said to have received $1,000 worth of substances, but under "notes" are several substances not banned by Major League Baseball: "gluthetyn" (which a source said was a misspelling of glutathione), "IM [intramuscular] shots," and amino acids.

Glutathione is an anti-oxidant, and one source said the "IM shots" Gonzalez received were "MICs," a medically dubious but legal combination of methionine, inositol and choline, often used for weight loss.

lol that's like buying aspirin from a coke dealer

Hahahaha:

@ESPNMag: One AL slugger on Braun: "Nobody likes that guy. He cheated & only got off because the team's old owner is the commissioner." #MLBPreview

This seems shady... suing PED providers not for violating laws, but for violating MLB rules.

“Each of the defendants participated in a scheme to solicit major league players to purchase or obtain, and/or to sell, supply or otherwise make available to major league players substances that the defendants knew were prohibited under baseball’s” drug-testing program, the suit charges.

Couldn't a doctor that prescribes Adderall be sued by the same logic?

I actually think that's a relatively inoffensive way to combat the problem; I like that it's a civil, rather than criminal, investigation.

The clinic knew or should have known that they were helping these guys cheat.

Wow. I mean, I hate Braun like everyone else, but that's insane the league is gonna bypass its own laws for a witch hunt.

He cheated them (twice), so they're gonna cheat him right back.
