If you showed that last bit of convo about Dunn to NSBB circa 2006-2007, Tim would have probably taken the board offline for a perminant hiatus.

Exactly.

I fought that battle a few times when suggesting Dunn wasn't the best allocation of resources.

Hell, I was thinking we'd make 3 or 4 moves. I'm disappointed for sure. Not even at the Cubs, all of baseball. This hasn't been worth the buildup this year on any level. At this point, I could see us announcing Wood's contract, or maybe a trade for Stewart. Other than that, the Rule 5 Draft looks like it may be the most interesting thing for us to pay attention to. I'm just wanting something to get done, maybe tonight? But I doubt it, I figure whatever we do, if anything happens tomorrow night. Everything seems tied to Pujols. Or to Wilson. And since they haven't signed, it's at a standstill.

The Winter meetings isnt the trade deadline. Everything doesnt have to be announced by the end of the day or the week in this case. A lot of what's going on is framework for contracts and trades and they have all winter long to compelete the deals and hammer out any details. Everyone likes instant gratification but that's just not how the GM meetings work.

Whut.

I just meant I was expecting more things getting done. By all teams, but as was just said, this ain't the trade deadline either. I was thinking since teams had had a little longer to evaluate and meet FA this offseason, I thought we'd be a lot further down the road than we are.

It's December 6th.

I honestly don't think KW understands that how long someone is under contract can either help or hurt what their value is. I wonder what they want for Beckham?

Yeah, evidently I'm not extremely patient.

Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal

#Mets near trade described as "change of scenery" deal both ways. They are getting 2-for-1. Rauch 1 yr pending phys. Another RP on way. #MLB

Zambrano?

Zambrano?

I think it's for another reliever. Described as a change of scenery deal, I'm doubting we're involved, because Marmol doesn't seem to be a guy that's considered a bad contract, as is kind of implied by "change of scenery".

But if you were fighting that battle in 2006-2007 you were wrong.

What guy on the Mets even qualifies as a "change of scenery" type? Wright still has too much value to just swap bad contracts... Jason Bay maybe? I don't see the fit with the Cubs.

Andres Torres and Ramon Ramirez for Angel Pagan is the rumored trade.

Good deal for the Giants.

I guess with Pagan and Cabrera, they're out on Beltran for sure.

Hopefully it makes more sense than the first part.

In full:

@Joelsherman1: Person involved in talks tells me #Cubs definitely in on Pujols, so he might go to #Marlins who share spring facility with #Cardinals or to Cards biggest rival. wow.
