If it wasn't an SEC team, I bet OK State would have leaped over Alabama. In 2006 they pushed an SEC team over a Big Ten team because they didn't watch a rematch, but this year they apparently want a rematch because its an SEC team playing another SEC team.

Yup.

The Big 10 is crap.

this is lame...no conference championship should mean no national championship...alabama had their chance to beat lsu and couldn't pull it off.

that being said, geaux tigers...because lsu fans are slightly less annoying than alabama fans.

They had their chance AT their place as well. Stupid.

At home no less. If they had lost to the Tigers in Baton Rouge, it would be slightly more understandable. I realize the game could have gone either way, but come on they lost their game at home and they didnt win or even play in their conference championship game. What is the point of even having conference champions?

Just reported that Michigan will face Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl. Slightly surprised that Va Tech gets selected over Kansas State after how bad they looked yesterday

It's almost the exact same scenario as 2006. BCS #1 Big Ten team narrowly beats BCS #2 Big Ten team. Michigan finds itself back at #2 and in line to have a rematch going into the last week. Maybe the quality of the teams Michigan beat was worse, who knows.

Little bit of a different scenario in 2006. First, the margin between Michigan and Florida in the polls to begin with was much, much smaller than the margin between Alabama and Oklahoma State. It's possible that more voters switched this time the final week than did in 2006, but since the decision was much more split to begin with in 06 tipped the balance. Also, Michigan after they lost was never #2 in the polls. After the Michigan loss, it was USC 2, Michigan 3, Florida 4. So the voters never had to decide whether they were willing to put Michigan 2 until the final week when USC lost, and that's when they decided to leave Michigan at 3 and flip Florida at 2. In Oklahoma State's case, they lost after Alabama did. Finally, a small factor might have been that Michigan was done after their loss and Florida still had 2 more chances to impress the voters.

Now, the SEC thing probably did have something to do with this rematch. I agree with that. But it's not a straight comparison to 2006 whatsoever.

BCS = who [expletive] cares. 9-6 championship game, yay.

It's better then a LSU massacre of OSU.

LSU and Bama are prolly the two best teams in football but doesn't mean I will watch the game.

We need more changes in the BCS.

The only change they need is to get rid of it.

You honestly think that? I thought Oklahoma State looked really good in destroying their arch rival yesterday. OU was overrated most of the year but they were still a good team this year.

I mostly wanted Oklahoma State to make it because its a team that has never played in the title game before. I'm sick of seeing the same SEC vs. one of 5 teams every season.

BCS Championship Game: 1 LSU vs. 2 Alabama

Rose Bowl: 5 Oregon vs. 10 Wisconsin

Orange Bowl: 15 Clemson vs. 23 West Virginia

Sugar Bow: 11 Virginia Tech vs. 12 Michigan

Fiesta Bowl: 3 Oklahoma State vs. 4 Stanford

Gotta love a system where the 6,7,8 and 9 teams aren't among the 10 teams to play big money bowls.

That's not going to change anytime soon if the Big 10/Pac 10 have anything to say about it. I think they were the ones who pushed hardest for automatic qualification to try to preserve the Rose Bowl or else they weren't going to participate in the BCS.

I get to spend my Christmas in Shreveport. Your condolences are being accepted.

Went there a couple of years ago when NIU was down there. It's a dump, but there are casinos there, so all isn't lost. Make sure to check out the Bossier City boardwalk too.

Not really a good sign when your main selling point is the fact that you have casinos.

Casinos are literally the only thing I'm looking forward to. Puke.

Gotta love that Michigan gets to go BCS instead of MSU because MSU beat Michigan (and therefore played another game).

I know that's been discussed ad nauseam, but it hasn't gotten any less stupid. And on top of it they draw the, at best, 8th best team of the other 9.

Meineke would prefer to advertise a game featuring a 6-6 Northwestern team than have Penn State associated with them.

Illinois was the least desirable Big Ten team, but their reward for it is getting to go to San Francisco instead of Detroit.
