Considering what Gus Johnson is known for, I'm surprised they didn't make a bigger deal out of that. It was just like "oh ok Wisconsin is going to win now."

I wish the running into the punter rule was reviewable, as it seems like half the time, the guy who makes contact with the punter was thrown into him by an O-Linemen

Did he run into the punter?

he used up his over the top exuberance on the Duckworth 4th down catch

whoever that idiot was from MSU running into the punter totally bailed Bielema out; his lousy defense and special teams allowed 39 points and he makes zero effort to keep the ball on that last possession

So if you're engaged with an O-Lineman and he purposely throws you into the punter, you should be penalized? Really?

He didn't "throw" him into the punter. He went to block him, missed him while making contact. The guy ran into the punter. That is a flag.

In this instance, yes (though he did get pushed). I'm talking in general

He was not directly pushed into him though. And in general no I do not think that should be a flag if they are thrown into the punter. He was not thrown in this situation.

Except he didn't run into him. He barely made contact with the punter and it was a total flop. If anything, the punter should have gotten flagged for being a little bitch.

Bad call or good call, Dantonio is a moron for sending anyone after the punter the way Kirk Cousins was playing. Just take the ball - especially when your returner took it inside the 10.

You don't really know that's going to happen and it's possible that they got the ball inside the 10 because Wisconsin had players back to protect the punter.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply the return was going that far regardless. The fact that he has a returner capable of doing that at all though is another reason rushing the punt there was dumb.

I agree with that aspect. Plus, it's not like Wisconsin was playing defense at all. They should have been able to move the ball into field goal range at least.

I think overall MSU was a better team tonight. They however made several really dumb mistakes while Wisconsin played mostly mistake free. The fumbled kick off return, Adams going high and missing the sack(and getting a face mask penalty) on the Wilson to ? TD pass, and obviously the running into the punter were all plays that really hurt MSU.

The atmosphere in the Lucas Oil place was really electric the whole game. Great venue. There did seem to be a lot of empty seats though.

And I think OSU should jump Alabama.

i'm sure if he had access to a time machine and knew the returner was going to take it inside the 10 he wouldn't have sent anyone after the punter.

It didn't look like they had a block on, there seemed to be a token rush by a couple of players with Lewis getting in closer than expected. I don't think Wisconsin expected any rush at all.

Theatrics or not, it was the right call. He clearly made contact with the punter well after the ball was away. He disengaged from the blocker and went for the punter well after the ball was punted away, resulting in contact and a five yard flag.

The refs got it right.
