I'm not particularly worried about his arm and ability to make throws or even throw on the run. Just worried about his decision making, as both of his INTs in that game were head scratchers.

I'm sure it's improved due the fact that he's not the #3 guy anymore and has more of a role in practice.

The Raji INT was just a lack of experience. Wasnt' really a head scratcher. He just missed the big fat man dropping into the zone.

Outside of this week, he hasn't had more of a role. In fact, I heard today that the starting QB has a one on one meeting with Martz and the other QBs have to meet with Day or whatever the QB coach's name is. The combination of those 2 things has me concerned ab out how much he may have been able to develop in the last year or so.

With the Detroit loss, the Bears are now the 5th seed in the NFC win or lose tomorrow. Even if they lose they hold tiebreakers over Detroit and NY Giants (if they win Sunday) in conference record. And they hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Falcons (if they win Sunday). Didn't realize how huge winning this game would be for playoff purposes. The Bears are going to beat KC, so win this game also and the Bears are 9-3. The Saints (who have won by an average of 22.5 points in their 4 homes games) have the Giants and Lions in New Orleans in primetime in the next week and a half. And if NO takes care of business, that would leave the Lions at 7-5 and the Giants at best 7-5, and basically give the Bears a 3-game lead with 4 to play for 1 of the wildcard spots.

I had to go back and watch this. Hanie comes in to the game at around the 5 minute mark. He actually made a number of good throws, showed a decent arm, and shows good pocket presence. I feel like he can be productive, as long as he isn't being asked to throw the ball 30-35 times.

check out 7:48, that's exactly what makes me optimistic regarding hanie.

nor was the last interception. he was a backup quarterback thrown into a high-pressure situation trying to make a play. in retrospect he had the whole right side of the field to run into, but he stepped up, avoided the rush, and tried to squeeze it in. i don't see how it was a "head-scratcher", UMFan is just being willfully cynical.

So he's got a throwing arm to gush about and any ints he throws are excused because it was tough for him to come in as the 3rd QB in a pressure situation, why exactly is he a 3rd string QB? He sounds like a pro bowl QB to me.

As I said, I don't care if he's the third string QB or whatever. Based on what I've seen of him, I'm not worried about his arm as much as his decision making. Even if you want to pretend he had nothing to do with his 2 ints, just the fact that he doesn't see much game action and does not have a ton of familiarity with the 1st team offense should be enough to be worried about his decision making in the game.

I thought I should mention so as not to look too cynical, I actually think he will be fine on Sunday. He'll make some throws most people won't expect him to make and he'll probably make a few mistakes too. Depending on the gameplay Martz gives him, I could see a QB rating in the 80s, maybe higher.

Watching those highlights, it's so weird to see Rodgers look so uncomfortable. It feels like the Bears were blown out in that game, but it really was a fairly thrilling NFCC.

That's what I though about your post! Seems we have something in common you weirdo.

nice try, the few coherent statements in your post verified the fact that you were trying to argue against what i had said. but most of the post is pretty much a nonsensical hyperbole/strawman.

if i can translate and condense, you were saying: "if caleb hanie is such a pro-bowler, why was he a 3rd string quarterback? but despite the fact that he was a 3rd string quarterback, i still think he's going to play just as good if not better than jay cutler."

i have no idea what idea of mine that you were arguing against, you were pretty much just saying things.

What the hell you even talking about?

Nothing I said was difficult to understand. Go back to bitching and complaining about the world being against your sports teams. Somehow you were less annoying like that.

You know how hard it is to read a game thread when half the posts are sulley trying to emotionally talk himself through the drama of a sporting event?
