lol MR getting uppity about local law enforcement having it out for ND because the football program can't stop killing , raping and getting arrested

South Bend police's gunning for ND players is a well-known habit locally. That's why Clausen got arrested early on for being in a car with a guy who went into a liquor store before Clausen was 21, something I didn't even know was illegal.

wait wait wait

The South Bend police are actively looking to arrest the only people in South Bend that are keeping it from being a corn field? What kind of bizarro world is this? Every other small college town bends over backwards to protect the local sports heroes.

The SBPD (lol) is about 137th on the list of the reasons ND football is irrelevant

I had a feeling it wouldn't be a good idea to bring this up, how could I not have known that everyone would immediately and collectively decide that MR and I were blaming everything about ND football's lack of success recently on the local police department?

FWIW, Brian Hamilton of Chicago Trib tweeted this re: the now infamous party

"A neighbor on party that resulted in #NotreDame arrests: "It just seemed like normal kids in a fenced-in area just drinking and having fun.""

I really don't care about this whole issue at all and have little interest in discussing it further. Flame away

ND was on a knife's edge between powerhouse and occasional threat. It's not that they're bad it's that they've lost too many games they should've won in the BK era to really get the ball rolling. Michigan and USC were reeling coming off the Dick Rod and end of Carroll eras and now Ohio State is going to put the Midwest on lock with Meyer at the helm.

Powerhouse? No, not really. Weis stopped the bleeding, but he couldn't develop players enough to make them anywhere near a powerhouse. Hoke won like 10 games in his first year, which is more than Dick Rod won in any of his years. plus he has like 10 4-stars verbaled for next year, despite Meyer at OSU. wtf are you talking about?

I hate you, Brian Kelly. I hate your [expletive] lesbian golfer visor. I hate your [expletive] offense that looks like Oregon’s offense on quaaludes and holds the ball for 2.5 minutes a game. I hate your [expletive] Dance of the Backup Quarterbacks playcalling system. I hate your [expletive] Baaaaaahston accent as you blame the players and get high on the smell of your own [expletive] farts.

I hate you, Notre Dame football players. You’re made of glass, you’re [expletive] idiots, and you look like flabby turnstiles in those absurd shrink-wrap jerseys. You sit on the bench and cry because your opponents are actually, you know, hitting and trying to win a football game. You fold at the first sign of adversity, you drop balls a third grader would catch, and you spend most of the game chugging gatorade and feeling sorry for yourselves. I’m sure that, somehow, you’ll muster up enough strength to go out and drink 19 Keystone Lights in South Bend tonight, because you [expletive] deserve it. You’re all [expletive] losers. Put your [expletive] helmets back on and at least look like you want to be playing football.

I hate you, Notre Dame fans. You people [expletive] suck. I hate your pink jerseys, your 2.5 children named Hunter and Dakota and Mackenzie. I hate your [expletive] Bluetooths and your Blackberries that you dick around with instead of, you know, paying attention to the [expletive] football game. You want your hot chocolate hot, your seat cushion squishy, and your football stadium absolutely silent so the noise doesn’t hurt little Aiden’s ears. You’re the lamest [expletive] fanbase in the country, and I’m ashamed to be one of you.

I hate you, Notre Dame football. You’re fucked beyond repair, and the next time you do something impressive will be the first in my lifetime. You’re a bloated, creaking, corpse of a football program that slowly lurches along year after year, taking one step forward and two steps back. [expletive] your classiness and your tradition and your “Welcome to Notre Dame Stadium!” and your violent yellow flowers and your [expletive] announcers who can’t identify the players or pronounce their names and your commercial breaks that last a galactic year and your [expletive] [expletive] schedules. All you do is provide schadenfreude for our enemies, and it [expletive] blows.

[expletive] you all, I’m getting drunk.

he claims to be both

Childhood ND fan and either a USC alum or just a convert by proximity. I forget which but he explained it at one point

Was a fan as a kid then went to USC. Would root for them against most teams but never opposed to them losing in some hilariously awful fashion so these last twenty years have been good for the most part.

Is this more or less the CFB offseason/playoff discussion thread?

Not surprisingly if the Big Ten had its way, the BCS model would remain unchanged.

The Big Ten on Monday outlined its preferences for college football's future postseason model, which include a selection committee with guidelines to help select four playoff participants.

After meeting Sunday at Big Ten headquarters, the league's presidents and chancellors didn't emerge with an official position on a playoff, but three preferred options.

The first, according to Nebraska chancellor Harvey Perlman, is to keep the current BCS model. The second is a plus-one model where two teams would be selected to play for a national title after all the bowl games are played. The third is a true four-team playoff with semifinals taking place at existing bowl sites and a championship game bid out to sites around the country. In the four-team model, the Big Ten strongly advocates using a selection committee.

A four team model "should be the best four teams," Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said, echoing the position held by both the SEC and the Big 12. However, he and the Big Ten's presidents don't believe the current BCS ratings system, which includes polls and computer systems, is sufficient to select the top four.

"Everybody recognizes the present poll system is not a good proxy," Delany said.

Perlman said if the Big Ten's presidents were to vote, they'd want to keep the current structure, but he added, "We're also realistic."

Can't they just make it a top-four playoff? It really sucks that the ACC and the Big East are going to get a conference-champ affiliated playoff just because they know damn well their conferences are awful.
