Anyone else just looking up videos of Theo on youtube to see his smile.

I see it every time I close my eyes.

I made my wife wear a Theo mask last night.

a vast improvement

That's only because she's usually wearing a Voldemort mask.

Jon's not interested in the Cubs anymore the last time I heard from him. Something about hopelessly incompetent front office. But this was back in like 2006, and he remained apathetic for 07 and 08 so I think he's being legit.

Edit: Wow, he hasn't posted since May (I believe Jon is still a big Bulls fan) or logged in since August 12th. I thought maybe he'd log on to check out the Theo news but I guess we've lost him as a fan.

this made me so sad

But that's ok because we have kingkong vs. godzilla

this helped a little

Has freaking nothing leaked today?

The only thing I heard on the radio was that negotations for compensation really didn't start until this morning and that it is Ricketts negotiating with Boston and not Randy Bush as previously mentioned.

Chicago Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts has turned over a list of players to his three top baseball people to evaluate as compensation for bringing Theo Epstein from the Boston Red Sox to run baseball operations for the Cubs, according to sources familiar with the situation.

It's not clear how the list was developed, but traditionally the team seeking compensation presents a list of players they would accept and the sides hash out a compromise.

Interim general manager Randy Bush, director of player personnel Oneri Fleita and scouting director Tim Wilken were to report back to Ricketts which player or players they would be comfortable with trading, according to the sources.

According to another major league source, part of the compensation conversation also centered around which Red Sox employees Epstein would be allowed to bring to Chicago

The Cubs and Red Sox must still work out what compensation the Sox will receive for allowing Epstein out of the final year of his contract, and there is also the matter of which aides Epstein will be allowed to take with him

Epstein's inner circle, besides Cherington, includes Mike Hazen, vice president of player development and amateur scouting; scouting director Amiel Sawdaye; Brian O'Halloran, vice president of baseball operations; Allard Baird, vice president of player personnel; Dave Finley, special assistant to the GM; and Craig Shipley, the senior VP of player personnel and international scouting.

Hazen would seem to be an untouchable, given the vital role he plays in maintaining the team's stream of prospects, and the Cubs have a highly regarded scouting director in Tim Wilken. But Epstein has always valued a strong core of trusted voices around him, so it would seem a given that he will seek permission from the Sox to take a couple of people with him.

Would you guys be willing to give up slightly more value than we otherwise would to allow him to bring over a handful of guys he might need?

Gonna be one hell of an undertaking to build an entire staff that fits his standards from scratch with nobody from Boston.

That's what I want to hear! I'm willing to give up a slightly better prospect or something if it means we get to poach more of the organization over there.

Hah. Don't I look slow.

Sort of weird that he's still "acting" as GM amidst all this.

well, we got byrnes as assistant GM or whatever. we've never had a real front office like the red sox have so i'd have no idea how many people we'd need.

it feels like we just had hendry in a single room watching games on a standard def tv with rabbit ears, coughing unhealthily and surrounded by mcdonalds wrappers with maybe an Apple IIe in the corner with the screen smashed.
