I wouldn't just dismiss the Herald report (which is a pretty strong report) based on that snippet.

 

Just putting it out there.

 

 

The story could be a lot of things... Could be Theo trying to get more money (from either team)... Could be Boston trying to get the Cubs to cave on some sort of compensation...or could just be the first real leak we've had in this whole process.

Theo Epstein is on the verge of leaving Boston to take a position with the Cubs, according to Boston Herald report.

 

An announcement is expected in the next day or two, according to two unnamed sources. Compensation for Epstein is still an issue.

 

Not everyone believes the two sides are about to announce a deal. Major League Baseball Network analyst Peter Gammons tweeted that "if could happen, but reports are far ahead of decisions."

 

The Cubs had no comment on the report.

I honestly wouldnt be too upset taking Lackey if we give up Z in the deal. I still think there's a potential upside to him moving to the NL Central and getting past his marital issues. Might backfire too but I can't see him being as bad as he was last year as a Cub.
