  1. oh come, davis ross will surely be dead before then i didnt crunch the numbers but over the years how much did david ross cover his ass? Ross and Lester were only teammates for less than a year in a half so he doesn't need Ross to have success. But his throwing problems are and have been an issue. So much s that in spring training the Red Sox had Lester working on his throws to bases in a back field away from media and fans. As a Red Sox fan every time he fielded a ball it was hold your breath and pray time.
  2. As a Red Sox fan watching Ross the past few seasons I can tell you that while he is not a great hitter he hit very well in clutch situations.
  3. I agree, I think Lackey would be a better NL pitcher than he was in the AL. If the deal is Theo and Lackey the Cubs are getting a pretty damn good deal. Now just imagine if Theo hires Francona :-k
  4. You get Zambrano. I can't even laugh because that was discussed on a local Boston show about 15 min ago but it was Theo & Lackey for Zambrano they talked about. I guess I'd take one year of $18M crazy guy Zambrano if it means no more Lackey.
  5. As a Red Sox fan I hope the hold up is what compensation goes back to Boston. We would take Garza in return :D or make Theo take Lackey with him to Chicago. The Boston Herald reporter Steve Buckley that is on this is pretty legit and respected but the Boston Herald is not so much. But most people in Boston assume Theo is leaving so we are just waiting to see what the Red Sox get in return.
  6. The guy is a complete tool but just about everything he said about roids has tuned out to be true. If he wasn't such a POS he really could have made a (good) name for himself.
  7. Probably so they still feel part of the team but most DL guys don't travel with eh team. Also, I am 99% sure if a bench clearing brawl breaks out any player son the DL who are on the bench can not leave the dugout. I remember a few year's ago Allen Embree was on the DL and he left the bench during a scuffle and he was suspended.
  8. That hotel list is awesome. I came in handy last year when the Red Sox played at the Cubs. Does anyone know of any other sites that list team road hotels? I am trying to find out where the Red Sox stay when they play in Toronto.
  9. In HS I asked my coach that exact question and he said if I ever did it I better be sure I get to 1st safe or don't bother coming back to the dugout.

  11. Matt Clement Released from Hospital Less than 24 hours after being hit in the head with a line drive, Red Sox starting pitcher Matt Clement has been released from the hospital. Clement was released from Bayfront Medical Center in Tampa Bay after a second CT scan was negative. The All-Star pitcher was not at Tropicana Field for today’s Red Sox-Devil Rays game, but is scheduled to fly home with the team after the game. “Matt stayed in the hospital overnight and underwent further tests and observation this morning ...” Red Sox doctor Thomas Gill said in a statement. “Matt will accompany the team back to Boston tonight and be evaluated by our medical staff upon his return.” It’s not known whether Clement will go on the disabled list, but it appears his time away from the rotation will not be long. Clement was struck in the head by a line drive during the Sox' 10-9 win over the Devil Rays last night. Clement was carted off the field on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to nearby Bayfront Medical Center. After the incident, Clement spoke to his wife, Heather, who was back in Boston watching on television with their 4-year-old son, Mattix, according to Axelrod. ''He was kind of joking with her," Axelrod said. ''She said, 'All your runs scored.' He said, 'That figures.' He was worried about that. ''Mattix was sitting there watching on TV and saying, 'Daddy, c'mon. Daddy, c'mon.' Heather said it was all she could do to hold it together."
  12. Latest Update on Matt Clement from the Red Sox Boston Red Sox pitcher Matt Clement was hit in the right side of the head by Carl Crawford's line drive Tuesday night and carried from the field on a stretcher. Clement could be seen blinking his eyes when he was placed on the stretcher, and the Red Sox said he was conscious and alert as he was taken to the Bayfront Medical Center near Tropicana Field for further evaluation. "He had some numbness throughout the site where he got hit behind the right ear," said Lt. Rick Feinberg of the St. Petersburg Fire-Rescue. Red Sox medical director Dr. Thomas Gill said a CT scan was negative. "I have spoken with Matt and his doctors in Florida," Gill said. "Matt himself never lost consciousness and is in good spirits. ... He appears to be doing well, but will stay in the hospital for precautionary purposes and will be re-evaluated in the morning." After he was hit, Clement remained on the ground and barely moved for about five minutes before he was lifted onto the stretcher and immobilized with a neck brace. Replays showed the force of Crawford's liner knocked the All-Star pitcher completely off his feet. Gill said Clement didn't move because he was in "Shock". http://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/Headline_Archives/Clement_BDD.jpg
  13. Interesting! I have FOX Saturday Baseball on now and they just showed Phile Nevin in SD uniform warming up before the game. If the deal does go through they will have Sosa, Palmaro and Nevin for 2 positions.
  14. Look slike the Burnett to Baltimore is dead. Baltimore just traded Ponson to Sd for Phil Nevin.
  15. Tony Massarotti from The Boston Herald is reporting today that the trade is done. CHICAGO - With Major League Baseball's trading deadline less than 10 days away, the first dominoes began to topple last night with the news that pitcher A.J. Burnett was headed to the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles, Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Devil Rays have consumated a deal that would bring Burnett to Baltimore along with infielder Mike Lowell and minor league outfielder Eric Reed. In return, the Marlins were to receive outfielder Larry Bigbie, starter Hayden Penn and relievers Jorge Julio and Steve Kline. The final stage of the deal would be for the Orioles to find a home for starter Sidney Ponson in order to clear payroll to take on Lowell's salary. Sources said Baltimore wanted to send Ponson to Florida, who in turn would ship him to the Devil Rays in exchange for one of three relievers - Trever Miller, Travis Harper or Lance Carter.
  16. Bronson Arroyo is a pretty good pitcher and cheap for the next 3 years! But, I think Florida would prefer a deal with Baltimore.
  17. The latest was a 3 way deal between Florida, Baltimore and of all teams Tampa Bay  Baltimore said they will only take Mike Lowell if Florida takes Ponson so they worked this out... Baltimore would send the same package of players that had been reported for the past week to AND Sidney Ponson Florida - Florida would send Burnett and Lowell to Baltimore - Then Florida would send Ponson to Tampa Bay (with Florida paying most of his salary) for Trevor Miller. PROBLEM! :!: Ponson has a limited no trade clause which lists 10 teams that he can veto a trade to and Tampa Bay is one of those teams and he told Baltimore today he would not waive it. So it looks like that deal is dead unless Florida can fnd another taker for Ponson.
  18. Yes he left the game with a back issue. He hurt it with 2 outs in the 6th but finished the inning. He said after the game that he was fine and would make his next start and bent over to touch his toes to prove his back was OK..... I didn't make that last part up.
  19. Sure, his number at home are better than his road numbers but his road numbers are pretty damn good. Johnny Damon Home AB 170 H 63 ADV .371 OBP .419 HR 2 RBI 20 BB 15 SB 5 2B 15 3B 2 Away AB 213 H 67 ADV .315 OBP .351 HR 3 RBI 25 BB 13 SB 5 2B 12 3B 3
  20. 1st place Yankees - That lasted about 20 hours :D I am going to go out on a limb and say that when the Yankees traded 3 pretty good players for Randy Johnson they excpected a lot more out of him than he gave them last night, a 6 inning effort against a first place team!. Your "Ace" should be going 7+ strong every night. Sorry, but a Red Sox fan shouldn't be talking smack about other team's pitchers. It's not smack, it's the facts. RJ is a good pitcher but he will have give NY a lot more than he gave them last night if they have World Series hopes. Boston is in 1st with their best pitcher being out 1/2 the year. Where would they be without Clement?

  22. Damon wants a 5 year deal and one important thing to remember is his agent is The Devil  (Scott Boras) From what I have read in Boston is he is looking at a 5 year 10-12Mper year deal. The Red Sox offered him a 3 year 26M in spring training. He has said he would take a 4 year deal to stay in Boston but any other team would have to give him 5 years. Also, don't take what Damon says as the truth as he tends to say things, that contradict himself later on. Today he says he would consider playing for the Cubs, last month he said he wanted to stay on the east coast and would not consider any other team except east coast teams.
  23. I am a Red Sox fan and we are planning a trip to Chicago for the series I was able to get 6 for the Friday game and 5 for the Saturday game. -Very happy!
