If Angelo was just unlucky, he would have managed a blind squirrel pick by now.

He must have a system that legitimately succeeds in finding bad receivers.

Geez, I am trying to put together a top 5 from that list factoring in how they performed with the Bears, as well as the overall NFL resume. Meaning Brandon Lloyd won't make my top 5 even though he led the NFL in receiving yards last season because he didnt do much of anything in a Bears uni. But Marcus Robinson also won't make the top 5 because he never really did much beyond that one great season for the Bears.

1) Marty Booker

2) Muhsin Muhammad

3) ok whoops Marcus Robinson made it afterall

4) Bernard Berrian

5) umm.. Johnny Knox?

and if the window is closing, trade for brandon marshall already. he's like a woman-beating version of calvin johnson.

we can call him oj-tron

I don't see any way the Bears are gonna get a big name WR while Angelo is around.

He did sign the biggest name on the free agent market one year. He has spent a number of 2nd and 3rd round picks on WR. I think he would, I just don't think he knows what he's doing on offense.

Are you referring to Moose? And if so, he was the biggest name that year? I remember that he was coming off a really nice year and a decent career, but that's crazy.

Yeah, if he means Moose, I disagree. Looking back at the free agents that offseason, Plaxico Burress was the top WR free agent.

Muhsin was the biggest name coming off a pro bowl season leading the league in yards and TDs. He was old and wasn't going to have much of a career after that, but when the Bears signed him out of the gate it was the biggest news in the NFL. Burress was poised for a better future, but he was coming off disappointing seasons. Moose signed 6/30 with 10m guaranteed, Plaxico signed 6/25 with 8.5 m guaranteed.

Say what you will about the choice. The Bears obviously went after a big name WR that year.

The Lions opened as 7 point favorites, it quickly went to 6.5 and now it is down to 5.5. Not sure what that means, but last week's Bears line went down about a point and they failed to cover.

The Bears run defense is getting gashed this year, good thing the lions suck at running. Bears pass defense isnt any better but they have a 'slight' excuse playing ATL, NO and GB. No excuse for the carolina game. The dline is basically the same thing as last year minus Tommie and they are just getting pounded between the tackles, they arent blowing up the plays in the backfield either. Bears defense is a huge disappointment so far, especially the dline. Lions oline sucks almost as bad as Bears, i think they will at least get pressure on Stafford this week. If not, they got serious problems.

I think Cam Newton has the most passing yards on the season than every QB they've played this year, so I think that's a reasonable excuse if the other 3 games are 'slight excuses' as you said.

All that said, I agree with your overall sentiment about the D being extremely disapointing so far this year.

Watching the game, I felt more depressed than I did after I watched the tape. After watching the tape, I wasn’t as depressed because their quarterback played great.

Another instance of Jerry downplaying his own team's faults. While I do agree with him that Newton played great, the defense was downright pathetic and should not have any blame alleviated. Considering we've had a history of containing much better QBs like Rodgers and Brees, there is really no excuse for such a performance on defense.

I wonder if he blames the offensive line problems on the other defense "playing great".

Just listened to the Simmons podcast, he said, "I think a lot of people would think it's a division game, it's going to be close, 6, but I'm going to go with 7.5."

Since when is 6 points a close line? Then he listed them as a possible upset pick, which is weird considering he thought the line should be even higher.

I couldn't believe the amount of times Newton got the pass off just before the pressure (for lack of a better word) got to him.

Guess it means he wants to pick them to win solidly, but they don't have "Patriots" on their jerseys so he's not totally sure.

Newton's really impressed me. His accuracy is really improved, his release is quick, he runs through his progressions decently and he's very mobile. If he can keep improving his footwork and reads, he's going to be a very good NFL quarterback.

Sure the QB played great Jerry but why we he able to get so much time to throw? How many times did we sack him? What, we didn't sack him?

they missed a few sacks by not being able to tackle the ultra-mobile QB.
