I mentioned he played in 3 games. I think he played 3 quarters the first game, his most effective game. He missed the 2nd one. You conveniently slide in a comment about him probably not being 100%, but why because he was injured the week before? He played and was ineffective, caught 0 passes, dropped a TD and another pass and was held off the field whenever the Bears were in the red zone in the 2nd half. Sidney Rice was probably less than 100% when he came back from his injury, and yet Tavaris Jackson of all people found him 8 times for 109 yards in that game.

And that's fine that none of them are tearing it up. Like I said, 3 of them aren't their team's number 1 receivers, like they would be if they were on the Bears, and 3 of them have mediocre to bad QBs. You could argue that James Jones would have much better numbers if he wasn't his team's 4th option. Or that Mike Sims-Walker would have better numbers if Bradford didn't completely blow this year. And despite this, they all have better numbers than Williams.

I can tell this is going to be an agree to disagree argument.

So one of the other WRs would magically have 200+ yards by now with the Bears? Cutler has sucked since Atlanta (the one game where Williams looked decent) and the problems with the line are well-documented. You imply that Bradford and Jackson have sucked this year as if Cutler hasn't.

some hard-to-believe stats:

The Lions are on a five-game road winning streak for the first time in their history.

Overall, the Lions are on an eight-game winning streak, which they hadn't done since 1953-54.

The Lions are the first team in NFL history to win back-to-back games by way of comebacks of 20 points or more.

Before their five-game road winning streak, the Lions had lost 70 of their previous 78 games away from home.

The Lions won eight of 55 games from Week 7 in 2007 to Week 13 in 2010. Since then they have won eight straight games.

No they wouldn't magically have 200+ yards. They would have 200+ yards from cutler throwing them the ball and them catching it.

Bradford has a 49% completion percentage, 839 passing yards and a 70.8 passer rating this year. Jackson has a higher rating than Cutler but has thrown for even less yards than Bradford despite completing 14 more passes. Jay Cutler has had a below average start but still has noticably better numbers than those bozos.

Forte has accounted for 1/3 of Cutler's yards so far, which falls more on the shoulders of the line and Cutler than it does the receivers. Thus, there is no way you can convince me that any of the other options would have 200+ yards by now, so we might as well agree to disagree like you said.

I think you are clearly ignoring the garbage receivers (and no tight ends) that Cutler has to work with, and downplaying how much more the line is to blame.

when the WR's don't get separation or repeatedly drop balls, Forte does start to account for many more yards. That DOES fall on the receivers shoulders.

Then bounces off those shoulders and either onto the ground or into the opponents' hands.

Are you guys serious? When you have less than three seconds to throw the ball and a QB who can't accurately throw that ball longer than five yards, Forte becomes the most viable receiving option. How many times have we seen Cutler sail balls this year? Give me a break. Of course the one time I try to blame Cutler nobody else is game for it.

Cutler is off on a lot of throws, no doubt. but when he hits guys in stride and they cant catch it, or give him less then a 3" window to fit it into, then they arent doing their jobs very effectively, either.

theres plenty of blame to go around here.

One time?

Cutler has not played well this year. But the receivers and line are the problem and the primary reason why he has not played well.

He sailed two balls for picks against GB, one of which was negated by a penalty. Then of course he sailed one for a pick against Carolina on Sunday.

and if the window is closing, trade for brandon marshall already. he's like a woman-beating version of calvin johnson.

we can call him oj-tron

I don't see any way the Bears are gonna get a big name WR while Angelo is around.

But I'd love to get Marshall.

He did sign the biggest name on the free agent market one year. He has spent a number of 2nd and 3rd round picks on WR. I think he would, I just don't think he knows what he's doing on offense.

Are you referring to Moose? And if so, he was the biggest name that year? I remember that he was coming off a really nice year and a decent career, but that's crazy.

Yeah, if he means Moose, I disagree. Looking back at the free agents that offseason, Plaxico Burress was the top WR free agent.

I think that was pretty debatable. But gooney's point about drafting wr's is true as well. Angelo goes out and drafts "developmental" guys to play the position, but then doesn't actually provide the organization with the needed developmental parameters, coaches, etc.
