Typical whining Cardinals. Remember when Pujols complained about Ryan Howard winning the MVP over him saying that he should have won it for leading his team into the playoffs, even though the Cardinals had like 4-5 less wins than the Phillies, who obviously played in a harder division?

The award is not given out for playing on a winning team in a more difficult division. Pujols was the most valuable player that year and it wasn't a particularly close call between him and Howard.

I didn't say it is. Albert Pujols did. That is my whole point.

The St. Louis Cardinals’ slugger is upset he lost out to Philadelphia’s Ryan Howard for the National League MVP award, saying Wednesday the honor should go to someone on a playoff team.

“I see it this way: Someone who doesn’t take his team to the playoffs doesn’t deserve to win the MVP,” Pujols said in Spanish at a news conference organized by the Dominican Republic’s sports ministry.

And if Cliff Lee didn't blow a 4 run lead in game 2, the Phillies might have swept. Whats your point?

That La Russa probably cost his team by not pulling his starters at the appropriate time.

Everyone with any sense knew Pujols deserved the award, but to come out and whine like girl about it is lame.

The Cards are nefarious whiners. I blame LaRussa, as he really leads the way in that department.

the stupid thing that larussa did was to have garcia intentionally walk carlos ruiz. hamels was at 117 pitches and was probably done for the day; there was no need to walk ruiz to force the phillies to PH for hamels and get him out of the game. ben francisco kind of sucked this year, but traditionally he's been a solid hitter against LHP. there's significant doubt about who you'd rather have facing a LHP, ruiz or ben francisco, and when there's not much to be gained, you don't put another guy on base.

larussa got fined for whining about the strike zone.

My mistake then. I thought you were arguing that Howard should have gotten the award since they won more games.

Obviously, Pujols is wrong. And he should really start griping about the fact that he should have won six straight MVPs from 2005-2010.

Haha, The Cardinals just can't ever lose without complaining. You stay classy Pujols

"It's tough but we can't do anything about it," said first baseman Albert Pujols, who went 4-for-5 with three doubles. "We've been talking all year long and there's nothing you can do about it. Maybe if we were the New York Yankees maybe we would have played an 8 o'clock game today.

"I just don't understand why we're playing a 4 o'clock game when the league knows that we have tough shadows out there. But there's nothing you can do. They are making their money and I guess they put the game time however they wanted to."

It obviously severely affected Albert. I mean, he only went 4-5 with 3 doubles.

he shouldn't have won it in 2007, unless you really believe he won 2 or 3 games that year with his defense.

It does seem like a stretch, but Dewan's system had him as a +27 in runs saved and his UZR was over 21.

Finally, we can put the Ted Lilly glove slam to rest. It's been usurped.

If Albert comes to the Cubs we promise to ban all shadows from Wrigley.

The glove slam is still better. However, one thing that beat that, I forget how long ago, but in a game vs. The Astros, we were bombing Brandon Backe, and after a home run, he did a glove slam of his own, or something similar.

All whining aside, it is pretty stupid to play late afternoon games if you ask me.

Why? It doesn't put one team at a disadvantage. You'd rather they play all 4 games in primetime?

Considering one of the games was in Arizona, I don't think it'd be the worst thing to have two 1 PM or two 7 PM starts.

I assume you're talking local times?

Why not fill a full day with baseball rather than 6+ hours?

Why schedule half the games which will be played in their entireties times when most of the country is working?

I'm saying there's a reason that CBS doesn't schedule NCAA tournament games during that commute/dinner/news hour. Using CST, you have a game that started at 4, so most people get to see less than half of it, and the end overlaps with the 7 PM game. Might as well move it to the same time as the Yankees game, or start it at 6 central to stagger it.
