Blah. Hamels better be awesome the next game. Are the Phillies going with a 3 or 4 man rotation this round?

Really? Skip Oswalt for Halladay on 3 days rest? That would be Dusty level dumb.

If the Phils lose Game 3, why would it be dumb? Oswalt hasn't been that great this year (second worst ERA, worst WHIP, highest H/9, lowest K/9 of his career) and in a small sample, Halladay's been very good on short rest (2.79 ERA, 0.929 WHIP in six starts, though only one of those has happened since 2004). Plus you would get Lee in Game 5 on normal rest if the series goes that far.

If the Phillies win Game 3, then I agree that it would be dumb to throw Halladay on short rest.

There isn't a pitcher in baseball more fun to watch than Justin Verlander. One because he's the only high end starter who can consistently pitch in the upper 90's. Two because all his other pitches are just as nasty. He doesn't even use his two seam "enough", but it's nasty as well.

Was watching that Rangers-Rays game when the Rays had the tying run on 2B with 2 outs in the 7th and it reminded me of how very little fun the last 2 Cubs playoff teams were. There was just so little drama in our games. We had maybe 5 minutes of enjoyment in 6 games, coming on the Soto HR in 2007 and the DeRosa HR in 2008. The rest of it was watching us fail with RISP...no big hits, no back and forth games.

Game 1: somewhat exciting

Game 2: a blowout from the 2nd inning on

Game 3: pretty much a blowout, were trailing after 1 pitch. Only exciting moment was when the Cubs had bases loaded with 1 out and DeRosa GIDP

Game 1: held a lead for 3 innings then a blowout

Game 2: Blowout from 2nd inning on

Game 3: Trailed by 2+ runs from the 1st inning on.

Alright, all 4 series playing today. I think 2 of the 3 possible series get closed out tonight. I'll say Milwaukee and Detroit. Rays will force a game 5 and Phils go up 2-1.

Tigers could be a legit threat to all. They just looked like another default AL Central champ before making some pretty solid additions in Fister, Young, and Betemit, who may not sound like much, but he's a pretty good guy to have at the bottom of your lineup. Verlander, Fister, and Scherzer may not be as sexy of a rotation as Halladay, Lee, Hamels, Oswalt, or even Gallardo, Greinke, Marcum, and Wolf, but their offense is very deep. Also, The NL teams have a lot less experience against Verlander and Fister than they do against Halladay, Lee, Greinke, and Marcum.

I'd be happy with that scenario today.

As would I. However, if Texas clinches tonight it won't sadden me.

I hope the Rangers end the Ray Rays today. I am pulling hard for the Yanks. The Brew Crew will wrap it up. I think the Cardinals will pull out yet another stunner.

Guess I could get behind a Rangers-Tigers ALCS, but I really wanted to see the Rays extend their run. It was a better story to get behind.

Now we just need the Rays ownership to decide to slash payroll again, and it's time to woo Friedman!
