The Marlins players are wearing the alternate home version (sans cap) in today's AFL championship game. It looks much better in use than I expected.

Miami uniforms from BASEketball

Although the SEC is probing Miami gov't officials--not the Marlins--we can at least hope that the negative PR surrounding the deal and the price of the stadium to the public might dampen the Marlins' brass's aggressiveness in pursuing free agents.

Loria is probably hoping for that too, though

seriously....these uniforms have to be some sort of joke. there can't be more than a handful of people on the planet who think these clown costumes are acceptable for a professional baseball team.

Some middle age city worker up here was wearing that hat while raking leaves the other day. I was kind of confused. Although I guess he kind of looked like he could have been related to Heath Bell.

is it me or does the logo on the hat look like it's twice the size of any other MLB team's logo?

It's not just you. It's HUGE.

If you're going to go ostentatious, you go all out. I'm surprised it doesn't have LEDs sewn into it.

Honestly, the whole scheme is just disgusting. I can wait to see their HR statue/abomination.

Didn't think this deserved its own thread, but it seems that getting fans into the new Marlins' ballpark will be as much a logistical issue as it is a marketing issue. Team officials have repeatedly suggested that fans "use public transit" to get to the park, however no one ever bothered to note that there are no public transit stations within a mile of the facility.

The county is scrambling to find funds amounting to $234,000 (i.e. ~0.1% of the money the Marlins have committed to FA signings thus far this offseason) for a shuttle system to bridge the gap. The Marlins, as is their wont, have refused to assist in financing the project.
