It's not actually that bad given that it's a hat logo - they aren't going to be taking the field wearing a giant rainbow "M" emblazoned across their chests like some sort of South Beach rec-league hockey sweater. Watching the games as most of us do, you'll hardly ever see it up close.

 

The wordmark is believed to be generic, for an apparel maker's generic t-shirt or something similar, rather than specific to the rebranding.

 

It's not as if their current hat logo is any great shakes either.

I don't see how it being a hat logo makes it any less absurd. It's horribly lame logo. Hat or not hat.
