Grades so far:

Cutler: B+ (Pretty solid game all around)

RBs: B (missed some blocks that I can recall but great play on the screen pass by Forte. Good job getting extra yards by Barber. Taylor was actually decent too)

WRs: C- (not very impressed. Roy Williams no catches, only 2 targets. Hester had some nice plays but tripped in the end zone and ran backwards on a screen. Just didn't seem to make much of an impact.)

Run blocking: C+ (not a ton of holes created, but did pretty good setting up screens a couple of times. Could be worse, could be better)

Pass blocking: B+ (only reason its not an A is Webb, who looked really bad out there. Also a couple of false starts. Carimi held his own, and the less I hear from Williams, Garza and Louis the better)

TE: C (didn't really observe them enough. Kellen Davis had a hold called on him. Spaeth caught a pass but that's not what he's here for)

DLine: B (pretty good pressure on Manning early on, but later on didn't get nearly as much. Missed tackles on running plays hurt)

Linebackers: C+ (again started the game really well, but a ton of missed tackles on running plays is not acceptable. Still Urlacher was all over the place and Iwuh had nice zone coverage on a pass to the end zone)

Secondary: C (got beat quite a few times, way too many 3rd down conversions)

Special teams: C+ (had good coverage on punt returns, bad coverage on kickoff returns, Knox had 1 good kickoff return and a couple of bad ones. Punters were solid and Gould was 2-2 on FGs. Blocked punt led to a quick Giants TD was obviously a bad play)

Overall, it wasn't as bad as the score. Offense had a couple of decent drives, defense had a couple of decent stops but had a couple of bad drives as well). Overall I'd say C+

WR's having a really rough night. Roy Williams looks like crap so far.

O-line did a reasonable job on pass protection. Cutler may not have all night, but he's kept his jersey pretty clean.

ST is having a bad night...too many big returns.

Glad this is preseason. Still time to get sloppiness cleaned up. But there's some encouraging signs from the O-line tonight.

This is going to be a loooooooooong season, boys & girls.

May I remind you the Bears went 0-4 last preseason and were outscored 46-84. In the 3rd preseason game, the one where the starters play into the 2nd half, the offense produced 0 points. Against the Raiders, the Bears gave up 32 points. They looked really bad. And the started 3-0 in the regular season.

NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND! [-X

Hell after the 2010 preseason I was convinced the Bears would do no better than 6-10. I'm actually encouraged by the play of the OL tonight and that is all I wanted out of this game. The lack of playmaking ability at WR is a concern, yes. But if the OL can keep improving then I think Martz can stitch the thing together and get some points flowing.

Could have been worse. I thought the OL was pretty strong in pass protection. Very good job by Garza, Williams, and Louis in particular at recognizing and picking up blitzes and stunts. Last year and last week, it seemed like they didn't really know where the rushers were coming from....while I was able to pick them out at home before the play even started. Webb was the weaklink of the OL by far, but he has played worse.

I thought the offense actually looked pretty good. Roy Williams was terrible and Davis dropped a ball, but Cutler looked very good, the RBs were fine, and the o-line was actually NFL caliber. If Hester doesn't fall down and that punt isn't blocked, it's 13-10 at halftime. Not terrible.

The defense looked bad, but Peppers got some pressures and they were playing without Briggs.

Dave Toub probably killed a guy with a trident at halftime. The ST was terrible!

Not watching but I'm glad (at a hotel that doesn't get ESPN but gets the Golf channel, what the hell is that?) the OL is improved outside of Webb. Sounds about par for the course for our wide receivers - very inconsistent and frustrating.

Don't care about the score. Cutler went 12-21 with 8.1 ypa. I don't like that the Bears were not able to establish a rhythm offensively, but that was 100% due to dropped passes. Of his 9 incompletions: Williams dropped a sure 1st down. Davis dropped a decent gainer. Hester fell down on a would-be TD. Hester got interfered with on a possible TD. Williams short-armed a slant. Even if you take away 1 of the Hester plays (2nd one wouldn't have happened if 1st play was a TD) and put the slant on Cutler for throwing the ball too hard.....you're still looking at 15-20 for probably 200 yards and a TD.

With our O-line making strides, it looks like the WR corp are really holding this offense back. We're a legit #1 receiver from being a pretty high caliber offense imo.

Far from the biggest issue for the Bears, but when will they just bite the bullet and cut Chester Taylor? He serves no purpose on this team.

Why is Barber getting so many rushes? Do we not know what he is? Do we want him to get hurt? The kid from Utah can't catch.

Probably showing him off so people think they had a good offseason.

I wonder how he feels about running the ball up the gut in the 4th quarter of a preseason game? Heh.

He's "fighting for a job" lol

The Packers will be really good but I think people are overrating Green Bay just a little. They act like the 2011 NFC North title has already been awarded to the Packers. I know they beat our 3rd string QB on our home field in the NFC Title game but...eh whatever, I don't know where I'm going with this.
