Looks like I will have a nephew as the starting TE at Southern Illinois this year, as a redshirt freshman. Caught 4 passes for about 70 yards in the spring game with the #1s. Got another nephew who is a freshman WR on the #1 Oklahoma Sooners team (probably will redshirt).

 

What's the kid's name? We've had some pretty good TE's over the years, which hopefully bodes well for his future too.

Hearing that JoePa was injured in practice.. knocked down by a WR. Shoulder and pelvic injuries. Possible broken hip. I caught flack over the holidays because I thought Joe wouldnt coach this year due to health reasons and his daughters seemingly getting through to him to retire. I wonder if they will get in his ear again after this. Probably not. Coaching from the booth again, it looks like..

Janzen Jackson was dismissed from the UT football team Thursday. Really disappointing, but not all that surprising. He's a fantastic talent, but has had all kinds of problems since coming to UT. The original Lane Kiffin recruiting class is now pretty much Tyler Bray and nothing else - Lane leaving and Dooley coming in is looking more and more like a great switch.

 

In other, more positive, news, the NCAA announced it would not levy any new sanctions on Tennessee. All self-imposed sanctions were accepted and nothing new added on. Very good news as it takes the uncertainty away from the program's future.

The Big XII is going to be starting at asking A&M for $28 million to be able to leave. Guessing is going to end up going for $15-$20 million where as A&M is asking for $10-$15 million.

For those who care, Janzen Jackson has enrolled at McNeese State. My guess is he'll play there for a year and then enter the NFL draft. He'll be a really interesting guy to watch in the draft.
